Veggie Brunch offers Taiwanese and Chinese-style vegetarian all-you-can-eat buffet.
Whenever I craved for vegetarian food, I like to come here for lunch. They have a large selection of food. I like the fact that everytime they refill the food, it's a different dish. Plus everyday is different vegetarian dishes except for fried rice. Yes, some of the dishes are a bit on the oily side. But overall, its tasty, healthy and its vegan.
Ambiance is decent, you seat yourself, grab a plate and serve yourself. Once in awhile, the background music are annoying to listened to. The staff don't say much, just refill your tea and take away your dirty dish.
I do like the red bean with black rice soup, its good when mixed with vanilla ice cream. Its like drinking red bean milkshake.
Overall, a great value for your money. Oh, by the way, Veggie Bunch do close once a year, on Chinese New Year.
This is a neat little veg Chinese buffet in Richmond Public Market (access from within the market on the lower floor or a street entrance on Westminster Hwy.)
They're open for lunch and dinner most days of the week (actually, we haven't seen it closed before... I'm sure they must shut down for some holidays...)
The value here is outstanding, $10 + tax/tip (cash only, there's an ATM on the second floor of the market if you need it) allows you to eat your fill of about a dozen main dishes, appetizers, soup and dessert.
The service is good - tea is brought right away when you sit down, dishes are replaced frequently, and while the usual server doesn't seem to speak a lot of english we've never had problems.
Ambiance - standard little buffet with cafe-style tables. Background music seems to be either Buddhist/meditation type or CBC radio.
Food - Great!
For the main dishes there are usually several standards and a few options that are changed up regularly. Typically they've have rice vermicelli w/noodles, chow mein, chow fun (thick fresh rice noodles), stir-fried greens, cabbage w/ veggie ham, fried rice, spicy fried tofu, sweet n sour/spicy fried "pork" (very good), vegetarian "fish" (a little packet of seaweed and savory filling), a bitter melon dish, and others.
Appetizers: spring rolls, tempura sweet potato, steamed dumplings.
Desserts: sesame dumplings with red bean paste, ice cream.
If you're out and about in Richmond and looking for a fast meal, good veggie food at an excellent value can be found at Veggie Bunch.
I've wanted to try this place for awhile as there are very few vegetarian buffets around.
There were plenty of vegetable dishes and soy dishes to choose from. I found the fried rice to be outstanding. It was nice that they replenish the dishes in small batches. They may use a lot of oil, as I found at least one dish to e quite oily. I didn't see as many interesting varieties as posted previously, but overall I was pretty satisfied with what they did have.
My favourite dessert was the red bean soup with black rice and I ended up having 2 bowls. I probably overdid it with ice cream on top of that.
It's not much for ambiance, but it's still worth checking out if you need to eat more vegetables.
My coworkers and I go here for lunch because its centrally located quick and the food is pretty good. The dishes are freshly made (ie. even though its buffet stlye they don't have large portions sitting around forever, they bring out small portions of fresh, hot food). There is a good variety of dishes here so that you can definitely fill yourself up with out getting sick of one or two items. There are noodles, rice, steamed dim sum, soups, stir fries and even "immitation meat" dishes. The value is excellent. Worth a try.
I've been there twice. The food is great and tasty for vegetarians and meat-eaters too. Most of the food are vegan. Not sure if the vegetarian fish they carry is vegan or not. Didn't ask. Will ask the owner next time.
I like the fried eggplants very much, so does my husband. Whenever we're craving for some fried food, we go there. Their fried food is not too oily and yet the taste is great. Also the fried yams, sticky rice balls are awesome too.
I recomend this restaurant to everyone.
