Serving authentic Chinese cuisine on the Fisherman's Wharf in Steveston. Free delivery on $20 or more within 5km.
Normally we rarely consider take-out or delivery since the food is usually limp and over-cooked by the time you get to have it. Not this time. Even my usually skeptical spouse pronounced this order' delicious'. Happy to have this place nearby. Huge portions and really well-seasoned and prepared dishes. We tried the scallops with XO sauce (lots of snow peas!) and the rice noodles with (tender!!) beef and black bean sauce. Also lots of vegies (and I love vegies.)
We will definitely go and dine in too as it looks like it has nice atmosphere.
I often have issues with places I write up but this place has our vote!
I was wanting some Chinese food to take-out for a function, and as a Steveston resident I was thought it would be a great opportunity to try out the food from Timmy's Kitchen as I haven't been since it changed over from Fisherman's Village. I can't believe people think this place is good, sure it's more "authentic" than your alternatives around Steveston (none) but quality and taste-wise it's not worth what you're paying, especially when just a 15min car ride away can get you some great Chinese food around 3rd or Alexandra Road at a much better value.
Even though my experience was only for take-out it was bad enough to not want to return. First, I wanted 12 chicken wings ($7.99 for 12pcs) but asked if it was possible for them to make it half spicy and half honey garlic (many places will do this at no extra charge). She said no problem, but I discovered later that she charged me separately for each flavour ($4.99/6pcs) which actually made it a total of $9.98 for 12pcs. Ok, not a huge deal but kind of annoyed that she didn't inform me of this because I wouldn't have opted for the half-half then. The real kicker though was the deep-fried egg tofu with bai-ling mushrooms - there is an option to get that dish with two different types of mushrooms, which the lady on the phone asked me if I wanted but I said no, just the bai-ling was fine. Then, I discovered she charged me for two types of mushroom but only gave me one, AND IT WAS CANNED BUTTON MUSHROOMS, not bai-ling mushrooms as advertised. It sat on a bed of boiled lettuce instead of the usual sauteed broccoli too, just straight up cheap and nasty.
Guess what I'm trying to say is always check your receipts for this place as clearly they're a money gauging business, sort of explains all the old empty seats in the restaurant. The place didn't even have music playing when I walked in, just the eerie humming of electrical bright lights. Stay away...
Take it for what it's worth.. If you're in the area for Chinese, this is the place to go.
It's like any other Chinese place, but in the heart of Steveston. Don't be fooled by the small exterior look because inside can pack lots of people. Very authentic Chinese food.
Make sure you order the 19.99 lobster + crab combination.
Plus try not to flirt it up with the server too much, she's only 17.
My neighbour told me to try Timmy Kitchen for take out chinese food because we wanted something in Steveston. We have now had it 3 times in the last month! It was suprisingly good. The ginger beef is tasty (and you get alot), the chow mein is good, lemon-chicken good. It didn't taste like greasy fast food like we expected. The vegatable rolls were not great. The crepes came with tons of filling but only a six crepes - they should add a few more, but very good. I recommend Timmy Kitchen for chinese food in Steveston and was glad we tried them and will continue to go there.
This place is not that good especially for their value and quality. They have a minimum charge of $25 for delivery and are not very flexible. If you order 2 small rice they will give you 1 medium (which looks like the size of a small). The food is very salty. They use the same beef for every dish ie. beef chowmein, beef and black bean sauce, beef hot pot. I would not recommend this place.
