Decided to go there for dinner with my family on the weekend. Service was quite attentive, we were seated right away and our menus and tea were brought out shortly thereafter.
We went through the menu and ordered a variety of items, including some of their yakitori, the cheese-stuffed fish cake, bacon wrapped scallop, takoyaki, mango roll with real crab, and a seared duck roll.
Our food arrvied relatively quickly. The yakitoris were a little bland, and our chicken pieces were cut to tiny little pieces, a little too small, in my opinion. The cheese-stuffed fish cake, the scallop and the takoyaki were alright, nothing out of the ordinary. The seared duck roll was very bland, the duck was not seasoned and quite tastely, it was too fatty and could definitely use a little more time under the torch.
The best dish of the night was the mango roll. The tangy mango sauce was top was good, and we wished that we had room to order another one.
Service was great, the server (and very possibly the owner) was very friendly and attentive to my kids' needs. To their delight, we were offered free ice-cream at the end of our meal, which is always a plus.
Will go back their for their mango roll and try new items on their menu.
I went to this restaurant sometime last month to try it. It probably opened in late February/early March 2011. Their sushi and sashimi is top notch quality seafood. They know how to cut the fish properly. Their specialty rolls are amazing, such as the spicy tuna roll. The salmon battera was delicious. I tried a sashimi called suzuki: very good, clean, sweet taste (from New Zealand). The geoduck roll was pretty good as well. Also, tried the Blue fin tuna sashimi, this is definitely a rare item to have in Japanese restaurants in Vancouver.
I would have to say this is my new favourite Japanese restaurant!
