This quaint little bakery is likely the best in the lower mainland. With its french trained pastry chefs, it offers pastries found along the streets of Paris. So far, it is the only one that offers Parisian Macaroons, which sell out quickly. Each pastry is priced at 2.00 to 2.50. Each pastry is a work of art.
I absolutely love French macaroons but I rarely have them as too few places know how to make them properly.
This quaint bakery located in Steveston Village is a little bit out of the way but thanks to the previous reviewer I went out here. It was WORTH every minute of the drive.
The macaroons were airy and just melted in my mouth. I particularly loved the lemon flavoured baby macaroons priced at 5 for $2. The regular sized ones are priced at $2.
Their prices are fair but not exactly cheap, as they use good quality ingredients.
Their pastries look gorgeous and this would be the place to get a showstopping wedding or special occassion cake, I peeked at their album of cake designs and they were simply amazing.
Having said that my first visit was all about the macaroons, I don't like heavier desserts during the summer. And lately if I have a chocolate craving I prefer to just eat chocolate.
I like their location, the bakery is more of a take away place with very limited seating but it's fun to just browse through the cute shops in Steveston Village.
I recommend stocking up on macaroons and freeze it for later. I wish I had bought more, they were delicious and addictive! I can see myself returning here monthly at least.
This bakery is hidden in Steveston. It undoubtedly offers the best French pastries. The macaroons are to die for. And the other pastries look like small pieces of art. They are simply to pretty to eat.
I can't believe the prices they charge. It's a steal when you factor in creativity, and the time it spends to create one pastry.
The service here, too, is exceptional. It's a small establishment, which definitely makes service personalized. Either the pastry chef or his assistant will take the time to talk to you about each item. I'll be going here every weekend.
This hidden treasure in our neighbourhood of Steveston Village is an absolute gem. Wonderful pasteries that are to die for! We stop by and pick up a few treats for ourselves, or often order a dozen or so for a dinner party. At only $2.50 each - they are a steal - you would pay at least $5.00 for similar (and not nearly as good) at Sweet Obsession in Van. I almost hate to write this review - I don't want my friends to know where I get my delicious desserts, otherwise we'll all be serving them!
I love love love this place. I work nearby and frequent it often, there's nothing like one of their delicious macarons after a particularly bad day. Your troubles just melt away with it. Excellent pastries, I have never been disappointed with any of it. Sometimes they fill their cheesecake with a chocolate ganache, and oh gawd, words can not even explain how amazing it is.
I can never go anywhere else for birthday cakes again. They always come out delicious, and are always stunningly beautiful.
They also sell baking supplies here and at pretty reasonable prices, I've gotten candy moulds and gel colouring here before, and the quality of the supplies are always very good. I believe they sell the brands that they use?
Service is always outstanding, if you are custom ordering they are very professional and it always comes out better than I could have ever dreamed. It's run by two people, Patrice and Katarina, and they are the nicest people and always remember my name when I come in.
The prices are quite reasonable, pastries are around 2.50, chocolates run from 5 - 15 usually, and I got a beautiful white chocolate cake for a friend for only 60 dollars, it was huge, fed all 25 people at the party easily and we even had leftovers for the morning after!
Like a previous reviewer mentioned, it is a very small place, there are no seats in it really, just a kitchen, a small front area to display their pastries and a desk where they do their paperwork, but it doesn't really matter because macarons always taste best when you're sitting on the pier on a gorgeous sunny day.
I visit this little shop on a regular basis, particularly for the brownies and raspberry tarts-- They're absolutely to die for! The quality of the ingredients is reflected by the delicious and rich flavours of the pastries. I like the European portion sizes, they're just right for the afternoon sweet craving or as a little treat after dinner.
As for the service, I always find the empolyees to be so friendly. I go to this little pastry shop when I need a change from the typical bakery/pastry shop scene and need a little (chocolate) pick-me-up.
With regards to the prices, it's $2.50 per pastry, VERY good prices in comparison with other shops, I especially appreciate the prices when I host a dinner party and need an assortment of desserts to serve, as they are not only delicious but very well presented!
The downside? It's in Steveston Village, quite a ways! And very small, but all the more reason to make an afternoon trip and take a walk by the water while eating a pastry!
We had a wedding this summer and asked Patrice and Katarina to make a wedding cake. We were very very very happy with it. I have tasted all possible fillings for the cake ... it's hard to decide which one to choose. They are all yummy! :)
At the end, the cake looked exactly as I wished for. The flowers were perfectly made, I could not believe they were all edible. Guests gave a lot of compliments like "... it was a good looking and very tasteful cake ...".
As for the service, we had a couple of short very professional and enjoyable appointments. I was telling them what I want, and they provided me good suggestions on the look of the cake, delivery, serving etc. The cake was ready when agreed.
The price was fair, lower then most of the common cake places downtown, but not cheap.
