Chinese seafood restaurant located on Park Road across from ichmond Centre.
Being the dim sum menace that I am, I've come here a few times for their early morning special as a tag along.
Prices certainly do not break the bank and the quality of their dishes are decent for what you're paying. The menu isn't large by any means but offer all the commonly ordered items. I do find their chicken feet to be more sweet than savoury.
Service is par so you can expect at least minimal service from the staff. Little money is spent on the decor so the savings are passed to the customers, or so I think. The restaurant is about as exciting as linoleum flooring.
They have busy spurts during certain hours so some waiting can be expected. Again, another (cheaper) option among dozens in Richmond.
On Chinese New Year, our party of four went to Success to celebrate. It's not our first time at this restaurant and knowing how busy it can get, we made reservations and ordered the Peking duck in advance.
Food: We ordered the 3-course Peking duck (sliced duck in flour wrap, shredded duck in lettuce wrap, and soup), as well as dungeoness crab with wonton noodles, and dried oyster with veggies. The Peking duck was delicious - they even get the server to slice the duck beside your table. The crab dish was also excellent, however, the dried oyster dish wasn't too impressive.
Service: This restaurant has great service - they will change your plates at least a couple of times, refill your tea, and etc.
Ambiance: Decent and ordinary. No major points here but you're here for the food, right?
Price: Great value and reasonable price for seafood and entrees.
Overall: I would recommend this place if you want to have...you've guessed it! Peking duck.
Double check your orders with the bill!
I went there for a weekend dinner with my family on March 29, 2008. But I ended up with all kinds of surprises and disappointment.
The service is minimal to non-existent. Despite we waved and left the teapot cap open, it took over 30 minutes for any one of the 3 servers in the dinning room to come to refill our tea pot. Every time we tried to ask for help, they would ignore you or yell “OK” and walk away, then forget you had ever asked for help.
They massed up our orders. We ordered the Peking Duck with duck lettuce rap as the second course. In spite we had double-checked with the server of our order, the lettuce rap didn't come. They chopped the duck into pieces and served us instead.
We ordered 6 dishes and a soup all together. In the end, only 5 dishes and the soup came. However, they still put the missing dish on our final bill and expected us to pay for it. (Be vigilant! Do remember to double check the bill with each and every one of your family and guests!)
We ordered the crab. But the server didn’t provide us with the clamp to crack open the shell. Do they expect us to crack the thick shell open with our teeth? There were seniors and children at the table with us.
Flavor-wise, every dish was heavy on ground pepper, sesame oil and rice cooking wine, which completely over power the natural flavors of all the ingredients.
I would never dine at the restaurant let alone bringing family and friends there again.
P.S. it turns out the restaurant had 2 closures by the Vancouver Coast Health.

Not too many restaurants have dim sum till 5 pm. Between the hours of 3 to 5 pm everyday, Success restaurant have a dim sum special for $1.88 per dish. Menu not as extensive as earlier in the day but the classic basics are included. Fills you up. Just check off what you want from the list and how many you want, comes piping hot to your table. Service is prompt and attentive.
Will definitely go again when I feel like dim sum for dinner.
