Steveston Seafood House is located in the historic fishing village of Steveston.
This was my first visit to the Steveston Seafood House.
Our entire meal was quite good and the food was beautifully presented. We both had the smoked black cod. Although I thought it was a tiny bit salty it was cooked to perfection. We shared the pan fried oysters to start and they too were cooked to perfection.
The service was couteous and quick and the menu seemed priced fairly.
We will definately return!
A new owner, a new and vastly improved menu, but yet retaining the classic style of days gone by.
My wife and I took my mother in law out for dinner last night and decided that maybe the Seafood House might be a good idea. I do have the odd good idea, and this one was right up there.
A brand new menu that still retains some of their old classics, and the presentation was simply perfect.
The food was fresh and such an improvement from the days of rice and braised red cabbage. A nice medley of japanese eggplant, carrot and fresh local beans, it was downright pretty.
Of course I would be remiss in not mentioning our server "Stewart". Now he has been there since before the Dead Sea was even sick, and a visit to the Seafood House is more than great food, it is a chance to be served by maybe the very best fine dining server in the lower mainland.
A true joy last night, we'll be back, again and again.
It had been over 5 years since my wife and I had dined at the Steveston Seafood House and I just had to write a review as our night was fantastic from start to finish.
We started by sharing the cocont prawns and scallops, which were simple and delicious. Although we were at a seafood restaurant I decided to go with the Osso Bucco. What a treat! The meat just fell away from the bone and melted in my mouth. My wife had the blackened halibut, and in her words was "cooked to perfection." Our waiter, who was professional and attentive overheard it was our 20th anniversary and as we declined to have dessert he brought us two glasses of desert wine which were "on the house."
Prior to us leaving the chef came out and asked how everything was and made a few jokes with our waiter. A very nice touch.
We ate on a Saturday night and the restaurant was half full but the noise was kept to a minimum. I strongly encourage everyone to give this old classic a try. You won't be dissapointed.
