Shanghai Cuisine is a new restaurant on Sexsmith Road serving Shanghainese food formerly called Taiwanese Cuisine (and Vogue Chinese Cuisine before that).
Discovered this place whilst eating at the Lam Chu Kee, at Continental Plaza. We came the following week and discovered a gem. This restaurant has the most extensive Shanghainese menu I've found, with some fusion appetizers and food I"ve never tasted before I've eaten Chinese food everywhere, in the past 40 years!We ate a freshly made noodle soup with chives and sliced eel, the ubiquiteous xia lon bao,Chinese cabbage with bean curd(chopped fine...like a rough houmus),thinly sliced pork belly in a soy, and hot soy milk with Chinese donut. Fabulous! It's not just the food that makes the Shanghai Cuisine so good, the interior and decor is terrific(tastefully appointed with high ceilings and good lighting).Go and give your tastebuds a treat.
