THIS THE MESSAGE I SENT TO THEM ON MAR/15/2012. THEY CHOSE NOT TO RESPOND.
This just a customer feedback on your food. Today I picked up Chicken Fried rice at lunch time for the first time. The rice & chicken was dry and tasted stale. With this kind of food do you expect customer to ever come back? This ridiculous and I will never ever come back and never ever recommend your restaurant to anybody. Before I put this on your restaurant review I want to hear what you have to say.
I went to this place for a quick bite as I was doing some work in the area and I was familiar with The Sandwich Tree in Burnaby so I knew what to expect.......basic sandwiches for a reasonable price. Before I get to the vast menu, I must say that they decor was a little dated, even by Sandwich Tree standards which must date back to the 70s. The carpet was ugly and worn and there was pop machines in the middle of the restaurant and clutter everywhere. There was also a problem with the washroom(s) as there was a pool of water coming from the washroom doors. I was taken by surprise as this place sold everything from corn beef sandwiches (who still sells corn beef?) to burgers and asian dishes....there must have been 60 or 70 menu items for lunch. I ended up getting the california club and my colleague got the lasagna. The shrimp in the club was still frozen and the lasagna was as chewy as rubber but in hindsight I cannot imagine how they manage to have that many menu items available when we were two of the seven people in there at 12:30 for lunch. Of course, most of the food must be frozen.....and it sure tastes like it. I will never go back.
I love going to little family-runned cafe and lunch stops.
Although a little bit hard to find, this place takes the cake. The ambiance is a little dated, but they have been slowly doing some renos and it looks great already!
The family always strikes up great convos and are very personable. Food portions are huge and at an awesome price. Definitely a place to go for a full meal without lightening up the wallet too much. They have awesome homemade chili and try their daily specials!!
I work only 5 minutes from this place, and found them while looking for a soup and sandwich place. I went for the fish, as fish 'n chips are my favorite. They offered 3 pieces of fish and enough fries for two for ONLY $6.00 -- an excellent deal! The fish was your typical breaded type but was good tasting as were the fries. No "odd" smell. The person at the till didn't ask if I wanted something to drink, so when I went back with pop in hand I was worried if they'd sell it to me -- luckily no problem and NO extra charge for using debit for a purchase under $5.00!
The sitting area is spacious, tables are not crammed together. I really enjoyed it there and didn't really want to leave!
I'm only ever concerned with food handling. As they sell pork and other products that I can not eat I worry about how they handle the food (did they just touch pork then proceeded to handle the fish and fries or cut the lemon). Other than that, it was a great place and I'd go back.
