Vietnamese restaurant located on Blundell Road near Garden City.
I have eaten here a handful of times, because I enjoy Vietnamese food and culture. The ambience is pretty dull, except for the shrine area at the front of the restaurant, which is cute. The service is prompt and efficient. The server jokes with you, makes suggestions and makes you feel very welcome.
The food is great, the Pho is tasty, the Bun is perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. The vegetables are fresh and the noodles are the right texture. The peanut and fish sauce sides are both well done and flavorful. I enjoy the appetizer cold and spring rolls and a great bubble tea is also made there. I look forward to eating there again soon.
this place used to be walking distance from me before I moved. Since then, I have gone to other places for Pho while I was continually disappointed. I didn't write about those, simply because they were utterly forgettable, although there is anew place at 5 and Steveston that is good in a pinch.
Let's face it, not much separates a Pho place from another, other than service (Although I would argue, the broth is best here) and it's service that keeps me coming back. Always greeted with a smile and it's very fast. When's it's busy, it can be tough to get a second cup of tea, admittedly, although they are typically really attentive.
My wife and I were here on Sunday for dinner and it completely "hit the spot." I got the rare beef bowl and it was perfect.Sunday's can be tough at times for bean spouts and basil as freshness can wean a little, yet they were "spot on." the beef was tender and the noodles were NOT overcooked (which happens far too often with Pho.)
My wife likes the added touch of the garlic garnish on the peanut sauce for her salad roll, too.
Consistent choice and Christmas year round! :-D
