New Local Favourite for Indian

I've been wanting to try Red Mirchi since it opened and finally took the plunge - now I wonder why I waited so long!
The restaurant is clean and uncluttered, the lighting is good and there is ample parking, so we were off to a good start on this Thursday evening. We were the only diners and had the full attention of our waitress. All five of us opted for the buffet ($13.00). The food was hot, fresh and delicious. Excellent butter chicken, pakoras, dahl and korma as well as a lamb dish, paneer with peas and a couple of other dishes. The rice was perfectly cooked and the naan was hot, crispy and puffy - just the way I like it. The chicken wings had a great char-broiled flavour, not spicy. (My only complaint is that they were whole and they left the tips on.) Our waitress was cheerful, funny and engaging.
A great experience enjoyed by all - we will definitely be back!

Not just the Indian Food

The pizza is excellent! My wife likes the Indian food, buffet or a la carte, we have had it delivered, take out and in the restaurant. The Italian pizza is perfect, a bargain with a great generous amount of toppings, perfectly cooked every time. The service is very friendly, but a little amateurish, my biggest problem is they are still trying to be a sports bar, and when a couple of people come in to watch a hockey game, there is no where in the restaurant to escape it, and they have 4 big tvs in a very small space, and play them way too loud.

Food: We ordered the Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Curry, and Naan. All came piping hot, and smelling heavenly. The chicken was tender and thoroughly seasoned. It also came with pepper/onion sautee, which was also marinated to perfection. We are not actually big fans of lamb, but we found the mild-spiced lamb curry here to be to our taste. It was rich and the tastes of the different spices in there were not overpowered by the chili. The naan was tasted like it was fresh from the oven and went very well with their curry. The side fries were also amazing. Very crispy and unlike fries anywhere else - must try to understand what I mean!

Service: The servers (especially the lady) was very friendly and smiley. She constantly came up to ask if we were ok and was prompt with filling our cups.

Value: Value is amazing!!! The tandoori chicken was huge for the amount you pay (~$12). The curries come in unimpressively sized churns, but once you dig in you'll realize it's actually A LOT. We've also had takeout at this place before and the takeout portions were just as generous, if not more so.

Ambiance: Nothing in the decor that says "Indian", save for the Indian movies playing on one of their TV screens. It looks like a typical sports bar, and they have TV screens for watching sport games as well. It is dimly-lit and very very quiet (which may be a plus for some), as they don't have many patrons at the moment. Though they really should.
