Oldest bar in Richmond, built by firemen for firemen but that changed as the years went by. Recently underwent renovations. A classic bar in every sense of the word, ample seating and TVs around. Wednesday wing night and a great selection of beer on tap still makes this bar a contender in Richmond.
Food: best sweet chili wings in the city by far. Chicken wrap was ok but the accompanying salad was surprisingly good - it had mandarin oranges and sugar coated walnuts! Everyone was happy with their dishes - from nachos, ribs, poutine to their burgers. The only thing that was disappointing was the honey garlic wings that didn't come with any sauce.... weird. They also have one of the most extensive list of beers I've seen and many from all over the world as well. Overall, better than the average pub for food but still pub food - I'd give 3.5 stars for food if I could.
Service: Server kept forgetting things but no harm no foul. She was very nice and the place was busy (Canucks game on) and she would apologize each time. I'd say it was typical bar service.
Value: nothing was too expensive and I'd say it was worth it for the portion sizes and quality of food. I'd give this a 3.5 if I could but since I wanted to give the food a 3.5, I'm going to give value a 4 to even it out.
Ambiance: Clean and inviting. The only thing I can gripe about is the small tvs everywhere. They need to install just one giant tv somewhere so everyone can concentrate on that one screen and have the smaller tvs everywhere else. There's also a pool table in there and there just isn't enough space for it. My dining friend was hit twice with the cue!
It may not give the best viewing experience for a hockey game but overall, I'd def be back and recommend others to visit this place as well if you're looking for simple, no frills good pub food with a wide variety of beers to wash it down with. Bon appetite!
I had never eaten here before, so we went there for lunch at work. The first thing I noticed when we sat down was the extensive beer menu. They had so many options and tons of unique ales to quench your thirst. The menu had great options and I went with the halibut burger, which was well cooked and very tasty. My fellow coworkers also enjoyed their burgers and I think we will visit them again for a lunch outing.
Went to the Pumphouse for the first time in many years. The new renovations and menu are great. tha place looks and feels fantastic - nice dark tones and lotes of wood, It feels like an upscale bar or gastro pub. The menu is notches above the typical neighbourhood pub fare. Yes there are wings and fries and burgers, etc but also great salads, wild BC Salmon, steaks, pastas, pizza, interesting appies, etc. The food we had was very good and well priced for what you get. There is also a decent selection of wines and beer. My only gripe would be that there is no Guiness on tap. Definitely going back again as this is a great place for a casual meal.
I never knew about this bar until after the renovation. Great layout with dark tones and a nice ambient fireplace near some comfortable couches. This bar tends to have older patrons, except on fight nights, but that helps give the atmosphere a more mature and stimulating touch. Good food, a varied selection of beer, a fresh pool table, tvs all around, happy staff, what else could you ask for in a hang out?
DON'T RUIN YOUR DAY...Unbelievably poor service. Even worse, management didn't even care even after I brought to their attention!. I have travelled around the world and always took pride of the excellent service in the lower mainland. Unfortunately, this was the worst dinning service experience I have ever had. I would rate McD's service as a 5 against this restaurant. Basically, my girlfriends and I went over for a late lunch after swimming. After waiting ½ hr for food, I asked the waitress if she bring us something, even bread or French Fries... "We ain't got anything to give you"....that was her response. Not even an effort to check the kitchen, no apologies for being slow... in the meantime we were being stared at by a bunch of drunk trash men
Two people, 3 drinks and some nuggets was $24. A pub is supposed to be good pub grub, friendly atmosphere, attractive women and waitresses and drinks and alcohol. I was meeting someone and agreed to meet her here and was disappointed. We had a couple of drafts and a bottle, some appies which were served quickly but for heaven's sake there were no attractive women in here. I see hotter and cuter women in shorter skirts at The Keg and I go to The Keg with my wife sometimes! Anyway it's a pub that (half) does the job and has reasonable prices but if I hadn't brought my own I would have nothing to look at. A bonus about this place is that it's easy to track down your waitress.
