Been going to the other Pearl Castle for many years, so my friends decided to give this location a try. The decor is modern and colourful, but nothing to really boast about. The service was alright, we didn't except too much judging from our past experience with other Peark Castle locations anyway. Although I must say that the two Richmond locations definitely have much better service than the one in Port Coquitlam.
I ordered the passion fruit green tea, and found it waaaaay too sweet. It was like drinking raw syrup from the container, I was only able to finish about half before I finally gave up. I normally don't like to waste food, especially when I'm paying for it, but it was just way too sweet for me to even take another sip.
I think we're just going to stick with the old Pearl Castle location on Sexsmith.
Friend informed me that they finally opened the new location inside richmond centre so we decided to try their drinks. I always was a fan of Pearl Castle but haven't been cuz of the line ups in the other location.
Drinks: Ordered the pearl castle milk tea and friend ordered jap green tea. My drink tasted kinda different from other bbt locations and it wasn't too bad, not overly sweet as I always order to get the true taste.
Service: This place opened not too long ago (maybe 2 weeks) and it was very busy location with people crowding to get a table so it was all filled in a matter or minutes. The waitresses were very attentive with our order and service would be rated very high to deal with the crowd.
Value: I would say the drinks are set at a premium but you are paying for quality and I guess the convenience for being at a mall.
Verdict: Would likely to return to try other drinks when i'm at richmond centre. 8.5 out of 10
Food is about on par with the old location.
Service is quite bad as they messed up our orders and missed an order. Wait was ~30 min for a table during a Saturday night.
Bubbletea is quite overpriced (but as usual with most of the other fusion places)
Ambiance is not that great either, quite noisy and crowded.
Pearl Castle is probably my favorite place for BBT, so I thought the Richmond Centre location would be as good as the one on Sexsmith. Boy, was I wrong!
I've been to the one at Richmond Centre a couple of times for dine-in, as well as take-out.
Dine-in Service:
During my last visit, there were probably about 5 or 6 girls working there and two other tables of customers. Once we were seated, it took forever just to flag down someone to take our order (everyone working there was either busy chatting behind the counter, or eating). The drinks took even longer. I think we sat there for about 15-20 minutes just for two drinks before our orders finally came...when they did arrive, both drinks were missing the pearls on the side (we ordered hot drinks). So the girl had to talk to her manager, and then finally brought us pearls. BUT wait, she didn't bring us spoons! So another 10 minutes later (and getting slightly impatient), she finally brought the spoons over and tossed them onto the table with a glare on her face.
At this time, there was a couple that was seated next to us (at a small table of 2). They had ordered and you could tell that they were getting impatient with the service as well. When their food arrived, they requested to move to the next table over, because they had ordered 3 large dishes and it just couldn't fit at the table they were currently sitting at. The waitress told them that they weren't allowed to!! So they decided to ask another waitress, who just never responded back. Upon the third attempt, the waitress said that she needed to get approval from her manager first (at this point, i would have personally picked up my food and moved everything myself!)...so the girl finally came back not looking happy, and the customers ended up picking up their own food and moving to a new table...you could tell that they were not impressed.
Take-out Service:
The prices are insanely high just for a drink $5.75+ just for a drink...plus they add on some sort of take-out surcharge...
It also takes forever just to get a drink (could probably have finished my drink during that time span!)
Please DO NOT go to this restaurant! They have no respect for their patrons and you can tell that they really don't want to be there. I sure hope it is not the same management for all the Pearl Castles, because I've been to both the Sexsmith and Coquitlam ones and the service at those locations are 100x better.
I'll never go back to the Richmond Centre one again.
haha well ... the line up is 20 minutes but the parking was good...
the food however sucked.
my soup was almost tasteless while my chicken nugget portion was so small that I felt hungry at the end and had to eat something else else where
dont waste your time here.
(the one on sexsmith isnt that great either)
Way too much money for a mediocre bubble tea. $5.25 seriously? If you want to wait for 20 minutes for a takeout drink, then this is your place. The girls are nice but they forget your drink, more than a few times I have actually has to walk to the back and get my own drink from the counter. I know they're a new opperation but they leave you hanging. The bubble tea its self is ok. Lots of choices on the menu.
