So I need to preface this review in saying that my family is from the "Chui Chow" province in China. However, growing up, I've had little Chui Chow cuisine outside of my own home, since most of the Chinese restaurants offered Cantonese, Taiwanese, or Northern Chinese dishes. Those who are unsure of the difference, will be able to have a taste of something new if they venture into Parklane.
I was very impressed by the freshness of the ingredients, and happy with the variety of the menu. I wanted to order it all. Chilled crab? Good. Braised Duck? Good. Satay prawns with greens? Good and fresh. Chui Chow Fried Rice? Super good. There are some other items that may not appeal to all appetites, such as the soup with pig's stomach and preserved veggies, or the oyster omelet, but to me, these dishes are as authentic and tasty as they can get.
The service was friendly, but not pretentious, and the space was newly renovated and chic. Bathrooms were neat and clean. Good value, and an even better deal if you go with one of their promotions - Six of us were stuffed (and had packed the rest of the food) for $120.
One thing to note is that this restaurant fills up quickly. The last time we were there, it was 5pm on Sunday and by 5:30pm, it was 3/4 full. Remember to make your reservation.
