Genuine ambience that made the evening

As I travel I eat out a lot, so I appreciated the personal attention and friendly atmosphere almost as much as the tasty food, Paesanos gets my thumbs up for being "human" and the difference by not being yet another of the faceless chains made the all the difference for us. If you shop at The Brick, maybe move on . . .

Not too shabby, but I won't be going back

Stopped for lunch. Had the chicken cacciatore special. Surprisingly tasty and the portions were fine with me (I'm a big boy). Sadly, the server (who must be part owner) was obnoxious! She spent most of her time in a rather animated discussion with another server. The cook is East Indian, the servers all Asian. There’s really nothing Italian about the place short of the comfort food menu, and the décor.
Its one step-up from Boston Pizza as far as Italian dining goes.
I probably won’t be going back.

Portions too small

We had lunch there with some friends. The restaurant was not very busy. The food taste good. The portions were surprisingly too small.
The service was OK. The chef did come out to socialize and ask how was the food.
We will have to think twice before going back to this Restaurant.

Nice night out

Went out for a Friday night dinner with a friend who was leaving town. We had a great corner table to chat and a great view to watch the people go by.

The service by our waiter was excellent even though I was being picky about checking for vegetarian options. Very tasty dinner and desert. Would definitely go back, thanks so much.

Entertained guests from Toronto - Good time had by all

Back in the 1980's I worked in Richmond and knew the "old" Paesano's on No. 3 Road. It was one of our favourite restaurants in the Vancouver area. After almost twenty years in Toronto we moved back to the area, this time to Richmond, We were saddened when the old Paesano's location closed.

This week we had guests from Toronto and they wanted to dine in Steveston and have good Italian cuisine. How pleased we were to take them to the new Paesano's location. We and they thoroughly enjoyed the location, ambiance, service and especially the food.

From appetizers through desert we were pleasantly satisfied with our choices. We found the servings, presentation, taste and especially the freshness of all ingredients, especially satisfying. The attention and accuracy of our waiter was first rate.

We certainly will recommend Paesano's to our family, friends and to others who might be seeking a pleasant evening of Italian fare.

Paesanos is a great Italian gem! The new location has a great vibe, amazing service and the food makes you want to come again and again. The staff is friendly and brings a warm feeling to the restaurant. My girlfriends and I sat at the restaurant chit chatting for hours with some great wine, and delicious appetizers. Even though we were full from several different appetizers we just had to order dinner. My friend even though complaining on how full she was licked her plate clean. She would recommend the linguine pescatore to all. I myself had the butternut squash ravioli, I had never had it and believe me it wont be lost. After our meals the chef came out and greeted us asked how our night was going and how the food was, we had nothing but smiles to share. Overall my experience at this restaurant was fabulous. This is great new modern place for my friends and I to enjoy. I would highly reccomend everyone atleast go try this restaurant atleast once and have thier own personal opinion.

Terrible Waitress
By Grenville of Burnaby (1 Review)
Submitted Thursday, December 16, 2010 - 12:43am [Dine in]

I would give the food a "10" but overall this restaurant was less than half of that. How can a restaurant where the food tasted so good rate so poorly overall ??? Firstly there were 8 of us and the food came quickly, all together, tasted great and was served piping hot. Excellent !! However the portions were disgustingly small. 5 of our party of 8 were trim women in their 50's,,, even though salads and bread appies had been bought every plate was scraped clean. There definitely were no leftovers as is usual from these light eaters. As for the 3 men.... Well this did not even make a decent snack.
The waitress was simply horrible, she must have some link to the restaurant otherwise I cannot understand why she would not have been sent packing long ago. The kindest thing I can say is she was completely ignorant of any basic skills and was both ignorant and rude. I am not surprised that this restaurant
forces the tip to be added onto your bill and this arrogant practice alone would make this a restaurant never to be revisited by us.
Too bad as were the portions not so pathetically small, the food was so good that this would become one of my regular favourites.... of course I would request a different server.

Ate here for lunch. We saw a lunch special on the door but we we're told about it or given the menu. In fact when we asked she seemed annoyed. the food was satisfactory but the bill came and she charged one of the orders full price accusing us of pointing at the regular menu when the regular one was off to the side. She refused to change the charge shrugging her shoulder saying she'd given us the regular serving. Poor attitude, not worth the food.

We have been to Paesano's for lunch at their new location twice. Both times the service was great and the food very good. Ordered the steak special and salad appetizers this time. Last time we had the pasta. Desert is outstanding, we had the Tiramisu.
I especially like the bright and airy location. New place close the water. They have an outside deck for summer days.

Great Girls Night

I was planning a girls night out a few weeks ago and thought about going to Paesano's in Steveston. Had been to the old location and had a wonderful time.

We got there and were greeted by a very friendly hostess who showed us to our table. The ambiance was very chic and a much more modern look then the previous location - reminded me of a boutique style restaurant. Our server came to our table right away and took our drink orders, which were brought promptly. We started with the bruschetta after hearing a gentleman on the table next to us say that their bruschetta reminded him of food from a recent trip to Roma. It was amazing! The bruschetta had a bit of a spice kick to it which our group loved. Our group had a few girls who wanted to make modifications to their meals, which our server assured us wouldn't be a problem. One had an order of the lobster ravioli, not an item on the menu and it was delicious. The sauce was so flavourful, she cleaned her entire plate. 2 of of us had the angelhair salmone, which was also rich in flavor, I had the cannelloni and was pleasantly surprised.

We ended the night with tiramisu which melted in our mouths. Our server was very friendly and took the time to chat with us. The food was better then I remembered it being and we really felt like we got value for what we ordered. Will definitely go again!

Horrible

Went here a few nights ago with my girlfriend. Ambiance was nice enough, good location. Our server was attentive, but didn't necessarily give me the best impression. I ordered the Angel Hair Salmone - it was alright, nothing special. My girlfriend ordered the Tortellini, which was appalling. Tasted like it came right out of the frozen foods section. Pasta was tough, sauce was tasteless. Portions were forgettable. For the amount they charge here, I expect much, much better. Ice cream from Timothy's across the street would have made for a better dinner. Never going back.

No coupons honoured

The new location at Steveston is great-- the restaurant is bright with modern decor. However, we went prepared to use our Entertainment Book 2010 coupons, only to be told that it is not valid because they are at a new location. This did not make sense to me, as the restaurant had simply relocated under the same name and management.

I can make better Kraft Dinner
By hereandthere of Richmond , BC (2 Reviews)

Was planning a nice girls night out and needed to ordered take out. A warm welcome in a very small Italian Restaurant. Half an hour wait and brought our pasta home. A resident of Steveston was only a 4 minute travel time and absolutely shocked! very small portions with very little taste, Cold pasta and obviously frozen sauce at a extreme price $16+ a plate. I can honestly add a portion of cheddar cheese to Kraft Dinner and have a better dinner. So sad to see, in such a nice location. Will Never go back!
