Vietnamese subs, pho etc.
Food was very tasty, especially the sub. However, all of us who ate there had classic symptoms of msg afterwards (thirst, headache, red lips) so I'm not sure if they actually don't use any msg.
Service was slow. We didn't get tea until after having sat down for 10 minutes. Server didn't come by to take our order until almost 20 min. Food came out slow. We also didn't get everything we ordered.
The price is reasonable. The ambiance is quite nice: roomy, bright and clean.
Overall a decent dining experience, but I wouldn't come back on purpose because there's really nothing that spectacular to lure me back.
I've been here three or four times now, but I think its closed now? Anyways, I frequent it with quite a number of Vietnamese folks as well and they all claim its very home style cooked...like how their moms make it for them at home.
I found the place to be very clean, and the service was very good. Pricing was excellent as well. Only thing is I agree with the other posts below...at times it takes forever to get your food...so if you are in a rush, and if this place is still open...I wouldn't recommend it. But if you have time, want to sit in a pretty nice looking (for Vietnamese) restaurant, and have some good viet food...this place is strongly recommended from me!
the key selling point for trying this vietnamese restaurant was the "no msg" claim. eating asian in richmond with no msg??? definitely a must try, or clear alternative from the regular msg filled fare, 'cuz it's quite a challenge to make food at great standards without the monosodium glutamate. another added bonus is the use of organic vegetables. the subs were tasty, and the salad rolls are wicked good! the service is heavy on the sucky side due to the servers' lack of command of the english language, but as long as they get my order right and it comes in a reasonable time, i'm satified.
A newly opened cafe where Ikea used to be on No. 3 Road.
Food was good, if you could get what you ordered, if you got anything at all!!!
Very poor service. Waited almost 90 minutes to get food which was not what I ordered - after 3 repeated attempts to get the order right (their standard combo order) I gave up and ate what they brought me, simply because I was starving at this point. Did not get the drink (lime soda) and desert (mango ice cream) which was included in the price.
When I went to pay the bill there were charges on it for what I originally ordered and what I actually was given to eat - two completely different items! They did adjust the bill after again spending 5 minutes trying to explain to them what I actually ended up eating.
The servers did not understand English - or hand signs - or pointing at the items on the menu. They were totally clueless. It was a real "Horror Show".
There is no way anyone could convince me to go back to this cafe.
