A place that serves both fine traditional and modernized Taiwanese cuisine. The featured items of this restaurant are the traditional "Smoked Duck" dishes and the modernized "Bamboo rice" served in iron pot. The chef also specializes in seafood; the top seafood choices are "Soy simmered fish" and the "Peppery shrimp". The "Traditional Taiwan style 3 Cup Chicken" is also one of the top choices of this restaurant. The restaurant also has meal combos under $10 that will satisfy anyone's appetite.
Food: tried their signature tea duck (with noodles) as well as bamboo rice. per usual these days with Asian dining they seem to load up on MSG; despite this the flavoring was interesting and the bamboo rice especially had great texture to it.
Service: small place, no complaints, tea refilled and service prompt.
Value: very reasonable for two people
Ambiance: clean
Decided to try another restaurant in this shopping mall complex. We usually go to Tapioca Express, which is on the other side, but as my friends are both Taiwanese, we thought we'd give this one a try for the sake of variety.
The food we got just didn't seem as fresh as I've come to expect from Chinese / Taiwanese cooking. Both of my friends were quite critical of the food and said it was sub-standard.
This might be a fairly new restaurant, in which case it sounds like they need to practise these recipes a bit more. Spicing and flavouring needs to be a lot more subtle, and it needs to have more of a feeling of freshness.
