Gem of a coffee house. Great place to go if you like real coffee and are not a fan of Starbucks or Tim Hortons bilge water. Whenever I bring visitors here they love it.
Tried several coffees - all great. Tea selection limited (lots of fancy but no normal teas).
Tuna waffle was very interesting.
I never give 5's across the board - this is an overall 4/5 excellent place to me.
I was a skeptic about this coffee shop and what it can do. But having to sit down and to try the coffee, one can tell that Jason really takes his coffee very seriously. He has infused his Taiwanese styled coffee making, which happens to be a secret, and brought out the very robust flavor of coffee beans and served into a porcelain cup. It was simply tasty.
The only good coffee place in Richmond that is on par/better than the high priced shops in vancouver. The anti-starbuck shop, it has quality coffee without the production line crap. You can actaully talk to the guy making your coffee. The tiramisu cake was pretty good with syphon coffee. Forget the creme so you don't drown the coffee taste. Leave that for your McCofee.
I have yet to find coffee this good around Seattle. I have been a barista, love to drink coffee, but would not call myself a connoisseur. La Cuisson makes coffee a form of art. Spend 3 minutes listening to Jason talk about his coffee and you want to try everything on his menu, which he generously provided samples of when I inquired. His passion and knowledge is inspiring, I learn more every time I'm able to make the trip up. The syphon coffee is unreal but now espresso doesn't do it for me anymore. The fresh, simple bakes goods compliment the coffee yet it stays the main attraction. Treat yourself to an adventure!
La Cuisson is a hole in the wall that may be a little hard to find, but it's worth the trip. This place serves the best coffee in Richmond, period. I know that that's a pretty low bar given that there just aren't too many coffee houses in Richmond, but it can definitely hold its own even compared to popular Vancouver coffees. Just don't mind the odd musty smell hanging over the place.
Jason is a consumate host, he opened up and served me when he was closed. He saw I was wet and cold so he brewed me up a coffee, I am hooked. This is made differetly then any other coffee I have had, and the quality shines through. Try the cold dripped coffee, it is excellent. For the same price as a chain you support a local guy with ethical buying practises and the product is better. Flip through the albums while you wait and you will gain a sense of his passion.
Oh man, where has this place been!? I have been trying to find a place in Richmond to sit down and sip a nice cup of coffee. (Starbucks always tasted kinda burnt to me) Had the Blue Mountain and a Blue Berry Panne Cota. MMMMmmmm. The coffee was great even without cream and the Panne Cota had an taste almonds in it (Kind of like almond jelly). I highly recommend it! Tira misu looked a little underwhelming from the glass case.
The setting was nice albiet a bit small... Have a try! The staff was attentive and prompt with clearing the plates off our table. I'm not sure what constitutes as perfect score but I left happy!
Be aware though that the prices are a tad steep!
Eat well!
