Typical of other HK style restaurants in Richmond. My friend's dish arrived a lot earlier than mine.
Extremely slow. Food took a very long time to come out.
Quite a bit more expensive than other nearby Richmond restaurants.
The ambiance was nice. This restaurant seems clean.
I probably would not return as there are many better choices in the vicinity.
I went to this restaurant to eat and the restaurant had quite a few of people but there were not enough waitresses, there were like only 2 waitresses and I had to wait a long time for a waitress to come because they were two busy.
But it wasn't the waitresses that didn't have service there were just not enough waitresses.
Have frequented this place many years and often and recommended many others there. The location is a bit hard to find, it's on "Eat Street" Alexander but tucked inside. Parking is ok, but watch out for people backing up. The food is excellent, very tasty, their mushroom soup is out of this world. Service used to be poor, with waitresses with very poor attitudes, but that has improved quite a bit. Price is reasonable. The food is mainly Chinese western Hong Kong style.
One Thursday morning, after leaving Vancouver, my family decided to go to La Amigo in Richmond. Knowing the food was already pricey, we made our way to the front door. We were immediately shown to our seats. Waiting for our server to take our order, my family began to chat. Half-way through the waitress did not bother to greet us in anyway and reluctantly asked us what we wanted to order. My mother asked a food related, and received no manner at all. The waitress, whom I recall had short hair, a rough face and no glasses, then started lecturing my mother in a public place over a question. This made me pretty mad because I have never encountered any situation such as this before.
After we finished ordering I got my meal. The food was good, but the service wasn't. The waitress didn't not take time to tell me the name of the meal nor excuse herself as she put the dish down. After I finished my meal, my mother's meal never arrived. Avoiding the complaining, she decided to get it taken out.
The whole time we were eating the server never refilled our cups with tea nor did she smile or show any manner at all.
Finally the check came and my mother paid not noticing that the price was wrong. As we paid the 29 dollars the same waitress said thank you, come again. The waitress was obviously greedy. Then halfway back to our trip to Vancouver, my mother calculated the tab and noticed we paid 6 dollars more than the original price. What a ripoff!
We decided never to come to this restaurant again.
Even with the economy so weak, there are still a few restaurants that serve poor food and present the worst customer services! This restaurant is one of these restaurants.
Food: The food is O.K. At a price above most Chinese cafes, the selections of food and the prices do not match. You can go to other Chinese styled resturants that serve better foods with better prices. The dishes are quite small, especially the AAA steak that I ordered. It was burnt on the outside, and it was hard solid like a rock.
Service: Terrible! All the waitresses were frowning at us (my mother and family friends were with me). I asked a waitress (long pony tail with glasses) a few questions and she started to shout back at me. She looked really impatient so I just ordered the "Lunch Specials" which are about $10 in average, while other restaurants that include a cold glass of drink free of charge only charge about $7 to $8. A waitress should never shout back at her customers. It's totally unacceptable!
Value: With services like this and foods overpriced, I can't really give them a high score but I wouldn't give them the lowest score because the food was O.K.
Ambiance: The restaurant is small and cramped! It's very dary inside, even when the sun was shining so brightly outside. It's not a high class restaurant anyways so I don't even know why it was so dark.
I didn't enjoy eating at this restaurant and I will NEVER come back for a 2nd time, even if my friends pay for me. I will make sure that I let me friends and family know that this resturant is not worth going. Food overpriced! And the service... It's the worst I have seen in 2 years! If the food is priced at a more reasonable $ and the waitresses ACTUALLY smile once in a while, then it wouldn't be so bad. But I'll never go back. That's for sure!
