Good Japanese Food

We went here for a bussiness lunch with our office. We had pre-ordered our food as there were 12 of us in the group. We wanted a quick fast lunch as we were on tight schedule. We ordered the lunch boxes and they were excellent. I did not look at the prices but it seem to me that they were very reasonable. I will go back and try if i am in the area. It was a simple restaurant with good food. I think this is owned by Japanese so you do get Japanese food. Try it it's worth it.

Real Japanese Food in Richmond

Been here at least 15 times in the past 4 months (yes, about every week). This place never fails to disappoint. Real Japanese food without the downtown pricing. Sashimi is always fresh and tasty. Presentation is fantastic too. (order the chirashi sushi and/or the black sesame creme brulee and you will understand what I mean). I really lke how they separated the 2 menus. For lack of better terminology...raw and cooked. Raw showing off their great selection of sushi, sashimi, and other delicate goodies. Cooked menus feature their tonkatsu, tempura, udon, etc. Owner has been in the biz for a while and I am sure you will recognize him behind the sushi bar from days at Yoshi and Wabisabi.

Only con...parking but that's very common issue in Richmond.

then you'll like this place. Either raw or cooked tastes good. But portion is awfully TINY, not small, but TINY. For the average person, this would still be considered a bit less than a regular portion you'd normally get at other japanese restaurants.

I gave the service a 2 because I have found on 2 of the 4 times we've been that the servers were no where to be found. I waited for so long and knew that servers were just chatting up a storm in the back (cos I could see part of their body) and the chatter bugs started after someone (maybe hired help) walked in the door. I interrupted their conversation by calling their phone #, got someone's attention, hung up and asked for the bill. Hate it when the service is less than attentive.

Very clean and welcoming little restaurant. When I went there on a weekend day for lunch it was packed, so be prepared to wait a bit if you go there during the busy hours.
The Japanese waiters and waitresses here are very nice and make you want to give them a huge tip when you are done with your meals. I certainly did.
I had the Salmon combo and it was great, very fresh and tasty. The presentation was also very nice.
The daily specials white board offers some unique dishes if you are feeling like trying something new. They also have the Otoro (highest grade fatty tuna belly) available at $10 a piece which I am going to try the next time I go back.
The price was very reasonable for the quality of food and service. (the Kaiseki combo is only $20, if you have it at a restaurant in downtown it's easily double that price)

Very Expensive

I read a lot of reviews saying this place had good quality food and the price was reasonable. I'm not sure if they upped the prices but when I was there a few weeks ago it was very very pricey. A friend and I were there for dinner on a week night, around 6pm. The place was quite empty, there were only two tables filled.

We love trying new food so we decided on a geoduck sashimi salad, spider roll and red tuna sashimi to share among the two of us. We wanted to order more but these three dishes already added up to around $50 - that's $25/person and we weren't willing to spend more than that for so little food. The geoduck was new to us and good, it came in a tiny bowl. The tuna sashimi was fresh (again, portion was small); spider roll - nothing to complain about. So if you have extra cash lying around then sure, try it. If you're on a budget, I would suggest spending your precious money elsewhere.

I did a search for Kiriri menu online and only found a version on Urbanspoon that didn't look anything like the menu we got at the restaurant. Not sure if this is a take out menu or lunch menu...

The waiter was very attentive - so attentive it got on my nerves. The whole time we were deciding on our order, he just stood there and it made me uneasy. Maybe this is just me, some people might like this(???)
