We enjoy dinners here, so we figure we will try out dim sum on a day off. We waited for 10 mins for a table on a Friday arriving at 11:55am, and the service was good as we expected.
We pretty much enjoyed everything, but I have to say the Mushroom Dumplings are absolutely exceptional! Have not had anything like that - no wonder they win an award. You have to try this fantastic dim sum if you are there.
Horrible service, they missed the whole point to decent customer service.
Slow! and no tea refill.Got the feeling we were not welcome there at all.It was like the staff see's people all day long and you are just another one who will pay and leave.
food was average for Richmond.Funny, other people see it too.
What can I say - everything about this place is OK but that's it. Clean, relatively quick service, good selection, hit or miss with individual dishes.
There's that ambience of trying to be rich and impress. Whatever.
I would go again except that the owner has an attitude that is hard to ignore.
Did you enjoy your experience?
Always do. Good to have free and LOTS of parking.
Would you return and/or recommend this restaurant to others?
Yes. In fact, I've recommended many already and they were always wow-ed by this place.
What specifically did you like/dislike about the food, service and ambiance?
During lunch time, you may have to wait 15 minutes for a table. Other than that, the service is always awesome. Definitely, top notch for a chinese place. The ambiance is pretty solid, warm yellow lights, and during lunch time the curtains are always open to flood in some cooler colors. It is loud at times, but it usually simmers down quick... Asian restaurants are generally louder.
Was it worth the money?
Compared to Kirin or SSW, this place is better for value AND better food if you get the cheaper items like fried rice, dim sum, and small kitchen dishes.
If you're looking for an up-scale Chinese dimsum restaurant, then Jade is in the ballpark. Great service, food, ambiance, decor, linens, cutlery, etc. However, it is pricey. At the dollars they are asking, you may choose to look elsewhere (Kirin, Mandarin, etc.) However, if money is not a concern, The Jade is a decent place to lay down the plastic.
It's a decent place, price is not mediocre but in my experience service has been good. Alfred, May and Spencer are great people, Dicky is friendly, dim sum ok, dinner is great.
If you plan to spend less, don't go.
