Iced Café is a newly established continental style restaurant located in the heart of Richmond.
The good thing about Richmond is that there never seems to be an end to different cafes to visit. Tonight, my friends and I came to Iced Cafe to see what it's all about. At first impression, the room was stunning (especially for a cafe) - crystal curtains, plush velvet booths and matching faux leather seating with a mini chaise in the front was a nice change from the neon plastic look and feel of many other cafes we were used to. (Ambiance actually deserves a 3.5)
The food here is fairly good as well - we tried the seafood w/ lobster sauce and pork chop and onions on rice. Both were hot pots and true to their descriptors, they came sizzling, bubbling and stayed piping hot throughout the meal.
My only complaint is the drink menu was rather limited. Everything pretty much came with a type of tea (green, black or red) so for those looking for fresh juice or smoothie creations, this is not the place to be. However, my grapefruit lemon tea was not very sweet, which was a nice change from the sugar-laden drinks elsewhere. My friends also reported a happy "just enough sugar" level for their drinks as well.
All in all, a good first experience. Pricing is reasonable and on par with similar places.
Will be back.
