Went here for lunch after stroling in Stevenston. The restaurants were busy in Stevenston so that would try this place. It was not busy as it was sunny day. Service was good but food was very average. Blackened Halibut burger was good but the steak was very average. Not a cheap place either. You can get better food at many restaurants in Richmond. I don't think i will go back. No fault of the server as she was great.
. Freshly baked bread to start with and a wide variety of items to choose from. I particularly like their Lunch Salads - unique, fresh and plentiful. Breakfast Buffet is very generous but their hidden secret is the Prime Rib served on Sunday and Monday nights.....better then the Keg's. I like the restaurant enough to ensure I am booked at the Hotel when visiting Vancouver. You will not be disappointed in this unassuming eatery. Four and a half stars.
Casual Bistro with a Nice Lounge and nice overall interior. Food and Service are Mediocre/Solid. This could and should be brought up to the next level relatively easy. Tuna Steak was a let down but appetizers and Steak met the standards. Waiter made wonderful Caesar drinks. Might go back to try their Prime Rib Special!
We went to Harold's for dinner after only ever having been in the lounge area. The menu has a great selection and there were specials as well. My husband ordered the salmon and I had the Thai special fish. The salmon came with mashed potatoes and beans. The Thai fish came with rice and veggies. Both fish dishes were cooked perfectly. The veggies were done great as well. The server we had was excellent. She was quick with water refills and took good care of our children...bringing them smaller glasses for water and extra napkins. We will definitely be ack again..FYI there is not charge for parking I you register your car.
We had dinner in the bar here one night. The room was comfortable and clean. It took a while for our server to get to us (wasn't busy) but when she did, she was not bad. I ordered a caesar and the bf had a LARGE Guinness. The caesar itself wasn't bad but I was surprised to find a pepperoni stick in it. We had the calamari appetizer to start. Don't have the calamari! It was soooo greasy, bland and was cut into long, limp strips making it difficult to eat. My tenderloin was good but overdone. The asparagus that was served with it was good but the potatos lacked seasoning and there was no salt and pepper on the table. My bf had the butter chicken. He says it was good but needed more sauce. By the time the server came by to check on us, we were nearly finished with our plates. The table behind us feasted on $7 appies! The wings looked REALLY good as did a few others that they enjoyed. Will probably return for some appies once we find out when their $7 specials are.
Food:
Average, can't compare with those in downtown. Family restaurant quality.
Services:
- Wait for 5 minutes in the reception before anyone show up. No it's not busy. It's a big place, but only few customer.
- One piece of bread for each person, and no one refill it for 15 mins (no, they never refill it.. compare with American Grill they put in lot bread in the basket and refill it as soon as it empty, and taste much better then this place).
- I used the entertainment book coupon and they tried tick me for only apply the discount on cheapest item instead of getting the max out of the coupon. Spoke with the manager (and actually the owner) and she insisted only apply the coupon on the cheapest item (so don't order a drink, the coupon will apply to the drink rather then -$20 on the steak).
Value:
Poor: It's not expensive if it's a real "Fine Dining" but quantity is "fine dining" while the quality is "family restaurant". American Grill has better value: family restaurant portion, downtown fine restaurant quality and CRU service (the real New York CRU, not the Vancouver one).
Ambiance: quite - because the whole place is empty. Decoration is not fine restaurant quality.. well, at least better then Tivoli which look like a cafe shop.
What a surprise and in Richmond of all places! The three of us, experienced travellers from the US, China, and Scotland are fuss budgets. We eat out three times a week, 52 weeks of the year. Harold's, only open for two weeks, was a delight. As our senior member stated, "The Best Dam Meal I Can Remember Having, anywhere in the world." The squash soup was superb. The Black Cod amazing, Fresh Tuna superb, Liver and Onions mouth-watering. Service was 5 Star from the hostess to the waiter. This new venue is a must go for discerning diners. The ambience created by the beautiful interior was completely and utterly relaxing. Well done. Whatever you do keep your Chef. He/she is worth their weight in gold!
