Three words that sum up Happy Date. Fast, safe, and affordable.
The bakery is awesome. Nobody's egg tarts and pineapple buns are even close to capturing this old school hk-style taste. The egg tarts are sweet in the center and have a fluffy and layered crust like all good egg tart crusts. Not that butter crust trash that is also out there. The pineapple bun's crust is crunchy and the bun itself is soft. Eating it is just a pleasure. NOTE (ONLY EAT WHEN FRESH =D)
The restaurant itself is not very special. However, there is one dish that must be tried. Vegetables and beef with fried rice noodles (ask for both sides to be crunchy). Has baby bok choy with beef accompanied by a not too thick sauce that compliments the crunchy rice noodles.
Had breakfast here twice during the week - Happy Date Bakery has been around for along time, been going here since I was a kid with my grandma. Went by this week since my daily drive passes by. Had the BBQ bun and Hotdog bun this week and they tasted as they always do - ver y good.
Food - Don't know about the real menu but pastries here have always been good.
Service - As good as it gets in these HK style cafes
Value - Very good. I spent $3 each time.
Ambiance - It isn't pretty but I don't care.
