The Grille is the clubhouse restaurant located at the Country Meadows Golf Course.
At a golf course, yes, there is this restaurant. They even let us in wearing sloppy jeans and t-shirt.
Frankly, it looks like a typical casual fine dining restaurant in Vancouver. Say a nicer White Spot. It certainly doesn't hurt though that it has a rather nice view of a very good looking golf course. Not so much course out the window, but trees, ponds, grass... you could do worse.
Service is friendly and proficient, but nothing super amazing. No complaints.
The food? Surprisingly decent! They advertise only wild, sustainable salmon. And local produce from Richmond farms.
There is absolutely nothing fancy or innovative about their food. Burgers, pasta, sandwiches, soup, salads. But, they do a very good job of it. Maybe it's the ingredients.
Prices for lunch are pretty reasonable, I would say cheaper than Earl's, most things around $10-11.
Would I eat here again? Easily? Worth a trip? Maybe not. But hey, it sure beats most of the crappy HK tea restaurants around Richmond.
Decided to go here for a family outing.
Heard that the Prime Rib was good.
Setting was in the clubhouse of a local golf course, beautiful views of the greens, lots of parking and ambiance was great.
We made a reservation for 16, when we arrived our table was set and ready.
This place was hopping, as there was a golf tournament going on also. That did not lessen the service, service was attentive and refills of drinks were on time.
W/C was very clean.
Ordering, 14 of us tried the Prime Rib done to 8 oz and 6 oz portions. It came with daily vegetables and scalloped potatoes. Also server was bread. Drinks, non-alcoholic were reasonably priced and came with free refills.
The Prime Rib was done to perfection. We ordered it medium rare and it came out as expected. Well done to the chefs at The Grille @ Country Meadows.
Gratuities was included, at 15%, service was well worth this amount.
We will definitely go back again and again.
This restaurant is located at the Country Meadows Golf Course. I have been here for lunch on a number of occassions because it is close to work.
The food is good, but nothing spectacular... meaning I have never come out bragging about it. The meal portions and price are reasonable.
The service is sometimes hit & miss. They seem to have a lot of people working the floor, but service can still be slow on occasion.
I recommend going in the summer when their spectacular outdoor patio is open. Looking out onto the greens on a warm summer day is the best!
Food: We had the yam fries, steak burger w/ a salad, and butter chicken w/rice. The fries were crispy and fresh. The burger was a little bit dry but the flavour was okay. The butter chicken sauce was good and creamy. The chicken was nice and tender. The rice was partially crunchy though... maybe just needed soak up some of that creamy sauce.
Service: Walked in... no hostess. Waited a couple minutes and peeked around a bit. Hostess came, acknowledged us, and asked us to wait for a couple minutes. Then we were seated with no problem; got a pretty nice window seat. The service from the waiter was standard; nothing special. Food came at a good time.
Value: It was pretty cheap for a clubhouse type place at a golf course. The yam fries starter was ~$7, burger was ~12, and butter chicken was $14 or $15. So it's relatively cheap!
Ambiance: Loved the view. Beautiful green field of grass and a clear blue sky. It was just lovely! We had a booth so it was comfortable and roomy. The washroom was clean and classy with a lounging sofa.
Went for a family lunch there today and was so disappointed. Was prepared to love the place, the ambiance is stellar, with lovely views of the golf course. Would have been willing to overlook the somewhat bland food and unimaginative menu, but the service was the worse I have had in a long, long time. Our drink orders were taken promptly, but after at least hour a hour, no one offered to refill our coffees. Once we were able to hunt down a server, she refilled three of our coffees but left out one person. We were finally able to get another wait person's attention and she brought the coffee pot around again. Then we had to wait at least one hour for our food. When we enquired why it was taking so long, the server said the kitchen was backed up. Fair enough, but other tables that arrived after us received their food way before ours came. Was the food came, it was fairly disappointing. Because the server had told me that the fish and chips had huge pieces of fish, I only ordered one piece. When the I saw the tiny piece of fish they gave me, I knew it wasn't going to be enough, especially since I had substituted the chips for salad. I ended up having to order another piece of fish, and given that they had orginally misled me about the size of the fish, I would have thought that they would have been able to fry up another piece fairly quickly. Wrong again, the "extra" fish arrived after the rest of our party had finished eating. Anyway, would have loved to had a good experience here, but the inattentiveness of the service totally spoilt it for me. Will not return!
omg, hidden gems in the country side
One of the best prime rib I have ever had
Extensive choice of beef and seafood dishes
beautiful decorated restaurant ,especially Christmas time ,very reasonably priced, wine list is the cheapest one in the city..but outstanding value, love that attentive but unobstructive service
make sure to call ahead for weekend luch as it is usually packed
We arrived at 5:20 on a Thursday night, restaurant was not busy, we were seated in the lounge area. No other diners, but the bar was busy.
got a waitress to take our order around 5:35.
We ordered a simple burger and a salad... not that complicated or much time needed to prepare and cook.
At 6:05 I asked when our meal was coming- he told us that the kitchen was busy with 2 large parties - when I asked why that affected us getting our dinner, I was snottily told that they were in first so everyone else had to wait until they were served. He came back to say our meal was coming right up and 15 minutes after that the meal finally arrived. We managed to eat some of the meal, but with it being mediocre at best, we just lost our appetite
You know, I don't mind waiting, but tell me what it happening, offer us some fresh hot water or a refill, and let me know what we can expect and do it professionally, tactfully and with the feeling that you appreciate my business.
Not one person apologized, no one person took the time to be sincere and I am disappointed again in Country Meadows.
The food was average... nothing amazing, not even of a par quality really. Just ok.
We should have left after the first uncaring, snotty waiter instead of waiting for the mediocre food that finally arrived.
