We expected more. More meat in our wrap, more veggies, more sauce...just more. We definitely felt a little bit ripped off. There were about 5 thin shaving of beef in our wraps :( The fries were underdone.
Service was good. The lady behind the counter was friendly and smiley. The place could have been cleaner. The table we ate at was sticky (we were the only people in there).
We have been checking out and trying donairs/kabobs/gyros at many eateries. Tried this place based on the previous review and am definitely glad we did. It was very clean inside and looked like a new shop which just opened. We both had the chicken donairs as the chicken is the shaved variety off the rotisserie which is always excellent in taste. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, tzatziki sauce and cucumbers which a lot of places don't include. For $5.49 each we thought it was a good price. The portion size was good also. They have other greek dishes like souvlaki platters for $8.69, calamari platters, $8.99 and roast lamb platters $10.99 which all looked delicious. Can't wait to come back and try one of these!
Garden City Kabob is located in the strip mall at the corner of blundell and Garden city. It is a small place, with maybe 5-6 tables. The food looks perisan but is actually Afghan.
We ordered the roast lamb, prawn souvlaki, chicken donair and a chicken kabob wrap. The souvlaki and lamb came with rice, potato, greek salad, pita and tzaktziki. The lamb was tender and juicy with a little bit of tasty gravy with it, the prawns were grilled to perfection. The chicken meat in the donair was wonderfully flavoured...definitely not like the bland stuff you get at most non-lebanese and non-syrian joints.. The chicken kababs were grilled and seasoned perfectly as well.
We ordered takeout and our meal was ready in 10 minutes. On the whole it was an enjoyable and affordable meal...would definitely return for more..
