Preamble: relaxing after work
Food: honey and garlic wings were passable, spicy wings were passable, dry ribs were barely edible. Hunger does alot of crazy things to a man.
Service: slightly irritating in the "can I get you anything else" every 5 minutes but then again, at least she tried.
Value: not a bargain considering the quality of the food
Ambiance: slightly dishevelled looking place. bathroom was big though.
It's not too surprising to read the reviews below and find that many people have had the same experience as I did. I've been three times. Once the service was amazing, friendly and curious, the food was decent, that was at lunch.
However the afterwork serving staff has issues. Plain and simple they were rude and slow, and i would actually say aggressive. They have lost my business for good. I can say with confidence that the last two times I was there the service was on the top of my list for worst of all time.
I've been to this pub on numerous occasions and have always been willing to put up with various issues - there being few pubs in the area. Inside the pub, the air doesn't smell fresh. The food quality seems to continue to decline. Most of the chairs and stools I've sat in seem ready to fall apart. My last visit prompted a call to the health dep't, and the usually snarly service became downright offensive. Having a server argue with you is dissatisfying, to say the least. I won't go back, and I wouldn't recommend this place even if the next closest pub was Vancouver.
Took the parental for lunch about a week ago. Those will be an overview of multiple visits.
The food is always very good and fresh. The servings have gotten smaller lately, pubs are for eating not dining. Probably good for the dainty and cholestoral counts, for that I do the Naam. At pubs i want to get filled. OK I am back. The BLT on rye is awesome, the Brit plates, especially bangers, are always tasteworthy. The burgers are above average, but not to wow about. There is always something to please everybody. The calimari should be missed, always overooked.
The service tends to be iffy, as do most pubs in Richmond... get em drunk get tipped forget the in between.
A great lunch or early dinner spot. I go a few times a month, I eat out way too much.
After 8 the meet market begins. This place can get packed often.
this was my first time at this pub but i heard about it before. Just felt like chilling with some friends with drinks and some food and this place was very satisfying. Had chicken strips, basket of fries and 2 spinich artichoke cheese dips which were TOO DIE FOR!! extra cheesy goodness YUMM - O! The basket of fries were gigantic too. Well worth it and would def go back!
Our first time at this pub - service was excellent apart from a bit of slowness coming out to the patio. Good food -- we had 3 different entrees, and no complaints about any of them. Pub food, not gourment, but well cooked, nicely plated, served quickly and hot. Limited but adequate wine menu, seem able to make any cocktail imaginable!
Parking is a problem - we didn't have any trouble on a long weekend Sunday, but I think it could be tough during the working week. There is no parking lot other than that attached to the hotel above.
Wheelchair access - no power doors (I suggested it to the manager, who said he'd never thought of it but it was a good idea and he'd pass it on to the owner). Washrooms are around the corner and down the hall -- a bit peculiar but workable.
We'll try it again.
I've eaten here a couple of times and have never been disappointed with the food. I invited a friend for dinner one night and he was amazed with the menu, not a typical pub menu (standard burger and fries), the food was fresh, cooked well, and served quickly. The servers were on the ball, friendly, and overall we had a good dining experience! The only thing that ruined my night was that after I ordered a drink from the bar (and had my head turned), my friend noticed that the staff manager who was bartending that night had skimped me on a drink, not cool to rip off customers when they pay full price for a drink.
First and last time I'll go here. Staff need to learn some manners and a degree of professionalism. Wait staff need to treat customers better if hope to get repeat customers. Too many restaurants in Richmond to spend your good money on bad service. I ended up walking out and going a block away to the Mad Greek - yummy food and very pleasant staff.
I remember this place form a couple of years ago and oh my what did it change for the worse a lot.
The food is absolutely terrible. And after complaining nothing was done about it.
I will go there for a beer but skip the food.
