haven't been here for years and there's another Greek place that I really love but I thought I'd give this a try so I can justify my recommendations of the other restaurant.
I had the lamb stew which was pretty good. Very hot and quite tasty. but I only got steamed vegetables that had no Greek seasoning, just salt. It was quite plain to me. I had 2 potatoes which were crispy on the outside & very good but I found myself wanting more. My boyfriend had the kleftiko and his wasn't hot enough. Also, he had the same amount & type of vegetables as me. At my preferred place, Maria's, we got greek style potatoes, salad, and rice. but if you prefer not to have as many carbs, you may prefer Felicos. I may be able to substitute the cooked veg for greek salad, because I didn't like the way they did the cooked ones. They gave us so much bread right at the beginning and we waited so long for our meals that when I tried to eat bread with my meal, the bread was already cold. I didn't want to ask for more because I didn't want to waste food. But they should change their strategies.
The ambiance is really good if you're looking for a lot of other people talking around you. It does look a bit more remodeled and the washrooms are newer and fancier. The service was very good. Honestly, props! But instead of having my hot water refilled, I actually had to ask for it. And when we asked for the bill, it didn't come for a long time. But still, it has its positive aspects.
Started with a few appies which were all quite tasty. Pita bread was fresh and hot.
I had the roast lamb which was tender and tasty. Tried my friends souvlaki which was a litttle dry but not bad.
Portions were all ample.
Service was quick and attentive and the prices were very reasonable.
The restaurant itself was beautiful inside. I mean very nice!
Will definitely be returning and would recommend. Try the Lamb!
This is the second time I went to this restaurant. I should say the first time (a year ago) experience was better. Food was better & in bigger portion. Last time we ordered the Seafood platter & this time we ordered the Famous platter. The salad was ok, the pita bread was hot, but homous was a bit cold, watery & sour to my taste. The chicken was fine but the lamb chop was overdone. I just ate a few calamari because it's deep-fried & kind of greasy. The stuffed shrimp was soaked in butter while the shrimp cocktail was soaked in half-melted ice water, that made the shrimp look unappetizing. The green beans were undercooked & don't expect a whole roasted potato, you'll have only one thick slice!
Overall the meal was fine with the friendly service, comfy ambiance & reasonable price but I should say the food was not outstanding.
Felico's has a beautiful exterior, and the ambiance inside was quite nice as well. I had the prawn and scallop souvlaki dinner, which was quite satisfactory, although my husband's and cousin's roast lamb was a little on the dry side. But all in all, it was a very pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff.
Party of 10 with 8 having the Felico combo with coupon available in the local paper. Saved about $7 per couple. Darn right delicious and plentiful. So much food half the peeps took some home. Service was excellent some of the best I ever had in a restaurant. Restroom was clean and maintained. Free parking lot.
Food: Our party of 4 ordered 2 Felico's platter which consisted of lamb, chicken souvlaki, pita bread and hummous, greek salad, calamari, cocktail shrimp and stuffed shrimp with crab meat. This also came with rice, potatoes and veggies. The shrimp with crab meat and lamb were done extremely well. Chicken souvlaki was a bit too salty but over all quality should actually be 3.5 stars.
Service: I'm surprised to see the reviews below about bad service. Our server was great. Pleasant, non-intrusive and helpful. Perhaps it was because it was a weeknight and they weren't as busy?
Ambiance: they renovated since I was there last (Which was a while ago) so fairly nice for a casual sit down meal.
Value: for 15 bucks pp (we had a coupon), we were stuffed with a huge portion to take home for lunch the next day. Drinks are reasonably priced and no complaints on the food's quality.
Recommended! I'll be back!
WOW! Talk about value and good quality.
I shared the Seafood Platter for Two with a friend of mine. It was $40.95 (pre-tax/tip) and we thought we'd just get a small sampling of a bunch of courses. WRONG!
The food came out as such:
1. two delicious whole wheat pitas, toasted, served with homemade hummus
2. side portion serving of Greek salad
3. a full-size serving of lightly breaded deep fried calamari with tzatziki - we couldn't finish it!
4. a full-size serving of mussels in tomato/garlic sauce
5. cocktail shrimp (about 8 of them or so) and seafood sauce
Then came the full course portion:
6. stuffed tiger prawns (4 of them)
7. seafood medley in cream sauce (salmon, scallops, cod, shrimp)
8. there was something else I think, but i can't remember what it was
Plus:
9. a plate of sides - rice pilaf, half a red baked potato, and green beans and carrots
IT WAS SOOOO MUCH FOOD! And it was all good!
We definitely could not finish it all. And the waiting staff were very attentive.
Will definitely be back in the future!
my fav restaurant hands down, fresh food, good service, and nice atmosphere.
best dish:feta kota
and ntn here is made from a box or frozen, unlike many chain food restaurants felicos is definatly outstanding. Even there hummus is out of this world. compared to most places it is a little pricey but it is definatly worth it. also the portions arent huge, but if it is quality that you are looking for then i definatly recommend it!
Went here on a friday night. They asked if we had a reservation, we didnt, but we were sat right away, by the window. It was very nice. Ambiance was nice. (bird poop on window above us was kinda gross, but minus that, it was all good) Our server was great. She came at all the right times.
You can see the team work is amazing here. All of them are so attentive. The servers have service staff who clear plates or pour cold water/ serve coffee for them. They all look relaxed and not frazzled. Food seemed to be coming out at a good speed to various tables around us.
We ordered the platter for two. Wow, way too much food for the both of us. They were nice to let us sub lamb for chicken as we dont eat lamb. I love their dolmades, one of the best I've ever had! Their pita is whole wheat which is a nice change from the regular white pita. We orginally came for lasagna, sadly they dont have it :( (come on Felicos, where's the lasagna :P)
We wanted dessert but were way too stuffed. We would definately come back here.
Food: Had a Greek Salad, a bit too oily for my liking. Pita bread tasted good. Friend had the salmon which was reported to be good. Ordered a strawberry slush type drink (forgot the name) but was very watery with bits of chunky ice floating around (i.e. consistency not right), did not taste like strawberry.
Service: Server very attentive without being overly intrusive.
Value: Overpriced.
Ambiance: newly renovated as of last year.
We went to Felico's some time ago after their renovation. The place looks gorgeous!
We were sat right next to the fireplace. It turned out to be fine because it wasn't a real flame (but looked nice). We ordered a kalamari appy and roast lamb entree. Both were exceptional and delicious. Felico's kleftico has a ton of flavor and is one of the best! We were both stuffed and couldn't finish the whole thing. That means yummy leftovers for lunch next day.
This place is such great value. Even though it may be a couple of dollars more expensive per dish than the average Greek restaurant, it really is worth it.
Went to Felico's a few days ago and wanted to tell everyone how good the service was at this place. Sometimes what really sets a restaurant apart is the service and Felico's had exceptional service.
Service: Hands down the best service I have had in ages. Server was on our group the entire time, bringing us drinks refills without having to ask, complimentary pita after complimentary pita, and even taking the time to ask who wanted their bills split and by what grouping or couple. My friends were drinking and as soon as their glasses were 1/4 full the server was already asking what they wanted, not only good for the customer but good for the business. Often simply gestures go along way and my visit to Felico's shows what kind of impression good service leaves. I ended up leave 20% grat.
Food: Had the calamari dinner and it tasted like a calamari dinner.
Value: Decent.
Ambiance: Felicos did a reno since I last visited and it looks good.
Will be going to Felicos if I feel like Greek in Richmond. Can I say Happy Greek Restaurant!
I've been going to Felicos since 1985, and have always enjoyed Felicos. They have the best Calamari I've Ever Tasted, Wonderful Spanakopita and the most Perfect Lamb You Can Imagine. All this for an incredibly reasonable price. The restaurant has by far the best ambience of any Restaurant in Richmond. Now I've had Greek Food at the most popular restaurants in London, Paris, New York and Miami and no one has ever come close to Felicos! A wonderful treasure!
I've dined in Felico's several times and have always enjoyed the food. The decor in the restaurant is nice, I especially like the skylights. I've tried different dishes and my favorites are the seafood linguine and shack of lamb. Their calamari's very fresh too. The portions are generous compared to other seafood / greek restaurants of similar style, and their summer specials are pretty good deals considering you get a three-course dinner for around $26. The only disappointment might be the desserts - very boring and unmemorable.
Food:
- The slouvaki is amazing here and not only is the Greek food good but there are other items that are equally great.
- The value of the food is great - it is pricier compared to other Greek joints but the qualify is head and shoulders above the others.
Service:
- Service was solid, no complaints at all.
Ambiance:
- The place had great decor, 2 flat screens in the bar - I love the seating arranagements.
Overall this place is one of the best places I have ever been for Greek food.
Went to celebrate b'day with a greek, 8 of us. We were seated quickly, drinks came quickly, and then, because we were so busy chatting, I noticed that the waitress was hovering, just waiting for us to get ready to order.
One of the guys knew the secret of this restaurant's success, to not season the food in the traditional Greek style. So we ordered extra Basil, Orageno on the side. Food came quickly, pretty healthy portions. Lamb was done right, flavourful; Caesar Salad, chicken on the side, great value. We all enjoyed the food and the fun time.
One small issue was the cost of House White, $20 per half litre. Okay, it was Robert Mondavi, but that is still a little pricey.
Otherwise, a great evening and we'll be back.
Love this restaurant and go there on a regular basis since me and most of my friends and relatives live in Richmond. Their food is always good and service is always friendly. Try their seafood/greek Combo for two, great value, reasonable priced and you can have a variety of items on their menu to try out. It's not easy for a restaurant to maintain a level of consistency for so many years, and I think their packed dining room every night shows just that.
Well done, Felico's!
Such a let down. Beautiful new setting, wonderful group of family and friends, sunny evening....then boom.
The young waitress was set upon us. She had no clue as to what she was doing. We actually felt sorry for her until she started admonishing us! The woman manager made the situation even worse by calling us hostile. We were not hostile. We were paying customers out for an evening of fun, food, and conversation. One order was never entered so we waited and waited and waited.
This poor girl was not prepared to serve in an IHOP much less a supposedly fine dining restaurant on aSaturday night with a table of 12. My roast lamb (Kleftico) usually a solid choice over the years was small fatty and salty. What the heck happened ? We as a family have been going here for years and loved it.The female manager really must get out of the business. All she had to do was apologize, just once. She actually said, "there are still people eating." This was a woman that thoughtfully let her calamari get ice cold so that our tablemate would not eat alone. She was rude, combative, and sealed the deal for all of us. We will never go back and it is a shame.
Felico's was the biggest disappointment, this week. We arrived with a large party of 15 - everything here was disorganized. We were taken care of by multiple servers who forgot our drink and dinner orders - we waited at least 20 minutes for our wine and beer.
The food was delivered individually, leaving some to watch as others recieved their entrees, some intervals being over 10 minutes. When at last everyone received dinner, half the meal was cold. The food was bland and overcooked. We had the appetizer of saganaki, which at 9 95 is over priced. It was overly salty (and trust me, I eat khefatyri saganaki a lot) and hard - It's pretty obvious the cooks left it to burn...the cooks here are just not up to par.
It was a disappointing experience in every way. Stay away from here. There are plenty of better greek restaurants than Felico's
Went to Felico's with a large group Christmas party. The nicest thing I can say about the place is that it is beautiful inside. Looks upscale. But as they say, "looks can be deceiving".
The food was not authentic Greek and was definitely the worst "Greek" I've ever had. They served non-edible baked beans with the vegetarian dish (think Mexican breakfast style). Their rice was bland and slightly overcooked. Veggies were bland. The 4 vegetarians at our table each received their own plate with a full selection, but the 4 meat-eaters (incl. myself) were served side-plates with rice and veggies, and between the four were given two platters they had to dissect, and they had to split one tasteless skewer of chicken, two tough lambchops, two dry dolmadas (stuffed grape leaves) and two absolutely awful falafel (dry, overcooked and bad-tasting). The strawberry lada drink said it had coconut milk but you couldn't taste it; also, the strawberry had a strong artificial taste -- I couldn't even drink it. The wine kept flowing, but other than that the service was surly. Definitely will not be back.
