Absolutely Horrific

Rarely am I at a loss for words, however, the evening I spent at the Dockside Cafe with a party of twelve others was so atrocious that were it not for my need to spread the word, I would be rendered speechless.

When I first entered the establishment and politely asked the host if they could accomodate my party, my request was met with a flustered sigh and a subtle rolling of the eyes. On any other evening I would have taken this for an omen of things to come, but in lieu of the fact that I had twelve very hungry people behind me, I decided to overlook it and hope for the best.

Live and learn....

Where shall I begin? The food was way below par (undercooked lamb on a bed of pureed turnips isn't what I'd call fine dining), and the buffet left little to be desired, with it's roast beef dripping blood, it's starchy (probably powdered) mashed potatoes, and soggy ceasar salad. The only noteworthy aspect of the overall dining experience would have been the drinks, which were well mixed and served attractively.

In spite of the nausea inducing menu, the very worst part of the evening was most definately the service. By the end of the dinner, we had amassed forty six glasses on our table (most of which hadn't even been used, as our waiter neglected to clear out the water glasses that we didn't need.) It made for very little elbow room, and was rather unsightly on the whole. On top of that, everyone shared the opinion that the service was frightfully slow.

By the time our cheque arrived, our regretful experience at the Dockside Cafe made a bit more sense when it was pointed out that a sizeable gratuity had already been added onto the (500 dollar) bill. My goodness - it's no wonder we were treated so horribly - why should the service even bother doing a half decent job when gratuities are automatically added onto the bill!?!?

Needless to say, neither myself or the guests who were with me on that evening will ever return to this loathesome establishment.

Stand up for your rights as consumers, and please, take my advice - do not waste a cent at this restaurant!

Very Poor Service

A party of four attempted to get a table at the Buffet Restaurant upstairs from the Dockside but was told it would be an hour wait. Another party was told the same and went downstairs. We followed a few minutes latter and saw the same people leaving. They stated nobody came to see them, we unfortunately did get a table. I had arrived late and asked our waitress what the special was. She told me about the sides but not the actual entree and how it would be prepared, she was also red in the face and looked upset to have to repeat herself. She then dropped the stack of menus on my wife. She then forgot to bring me a steak knife for my prime rib for fifteen minutes, by which time it was cold. I can't say if the food was good as it was cold by the time I finally got a knife. They also did not provide me with more hot water for my tea. The decor was nice however. The above poor readings only apply for service, as I had to fill it in to submit this review.

We had the experience of eating at this place because the buffet was full and our reservations fell through. River Rock actually took care of our entire bill on the house!!!

That being said, we ordered a whole lot of food. They have amazing appys!!! Loved their little wrap things that you dip in peanut sauce!!!

The actual entree's were wonderful! My steak was cooked exactly as I asked, all the veggies were fresh and cooked perfect!

It was so good.... that we actually brough my parents there for dinner instead of going to the buffet. Now, we only eat at Dockside!

Oh yeah, the service was amazing. We had this gorgious waiter who was polite and curtious and who seemed to come around at just the right time!!!
