Parking is horrendous as is the case in this particular location.
Decor and ambience seems tired and dated, and not that clean.
Servers greet you but the service itself is slow, we've been here quite a few times. The lunch combos are of good value. Portions are large enough albeit somewhat greasy, although tasty. Their pizza is not worth writing home about but the lamb and kebabs are very tasty and authentic Hellâs!!!
The place can get really noisy, but the wasrooms are fairly clean.
We went there during the Olympics. We heard all the restaurant on 3 road were packed so we went there and it was closer. I used to go there all the time when I was a kid and it had awesome pizza. Turns out it still does. Plus it now has a great Greek menu. The greek food rivaled any greek restaurant in town. And the prices were way better.
The only down side was the place is in desperate need of a reno and it was also empty except for one other table which does not add to the atmosphere, especially during the Olympics. But all it all it was great.
Finally someone has taken over Cronos who knows what they are doing! With the new renos decided to give it one last try. PIzza is excellent, good value greek-style pizza with loads of toppings and cheese. Nice to have some decent pizza in central Richmond again! So happy I can stop eating frozen pizza!
This place was a great find on a cold, snowy night. It's warm and rustic, as is typical of Greek-owned pizza houses, and is reminiscent of the kinds of places my parents took me when I was a kid. I had the baked fettuccine alfredo which had a nice, home-cooked quality to it and the house red wine which was surprisingly decent by house wine standards. The servers were friendly and attentive and the prices are reasonable considering the portion size. I will definitely be eating here again.
I've ordered food a couple times from Cronos, its usually edible i mainly order for the quantity. I just recieved my burger/fries and cheesecake, and after hr and forty five minutes it came with MOULDY cheese cake! If i had a phone i would call and complain but i guess im s.o.l. I threw everything out and am no longer a customer of CRONOS.
Hit Cronos for the first time in a long time, food was awesome, new owners and a new menu with lots of options, had the had the penne with prawn and crab simply amazing. My girlfriend had the chicken soulvlaki which was great, but the greek salad was outstanding best greek salad anywhere, best part was the bill with 2 drinks, 2 entrees and a goog tip and tax for under $40, we will be coming bach often,
This review should have been written last fall. They had a change of ownership around that time. For years we hae gone to this restaurant as a nice, reasonably priced restaurant. Some friends had been helping us out and we wanted to take them somewhere for a little dinner and a couple of drinks. What a mistake!! One of our friends ordered the lamb and we shared a pizza (not great). Her order came and it was basically a pile of bones with a little meat on the side, so she refused it and asked for a new one. They took it away and brought her what was supposed to be a new dish, all it was was the same plate with some extra bones thrown on top. Needless to say we refused to pay for it. The waiter was very apologetic and said that there had been a large party in earlier and they had cleaned out a lot of their food (sound familiar??) While we were waiting for our bill to be sorted there was another couple who were refusing to pay for their meal and boy was he made. Same deal, been going there for years and had never had such an awful meal. Won't be back!!
Dine here a few times a year, with the recent renovations the atmosphere is improved as well. The pizza is a nice blend of quality and rich ingredients, and will beat a Domino's or greasy Pizza Hut anytime. What I also like is the pizza is exactly the way it was when I was a teenager, impressive to keep the consistency that long. Chocolate cake is also very good.
This place is an anachronism if ever there was one. There was a time when there were about a hundred of these Greek-owned Italian Pizza-Steak-and-Spaghetti places around(Dino's, Gino's, Trojan Horse, Trocedaro's, etc) The thing is, it's not retro in a cool way, it's just LONG past its prime. Starting with the too-small tables with too-wide chairs, the torn black vinyl banquette with the stuffing poking out and the chunky mediaeval light fixtures, there's a general overall appearance of "we just don't care anymore". Also noted: the drapes are in poor repair and the windows are extremely smeary. The menus are falling apart and have been "repaired" with corrugated cardboard and tape.
The menu is a predictable montage of pizza, steak, seafood and pastas. Souvlaki, humous, tzatziki and Greek salad are also offered. Among our party of four, we had a 6-oz steak and prawn special, an all-meat pizza, onion soup, clam chowder, fettucine alfredo with shrimp and lamb souvlaki. The food was mostly OK. I wasn't impressed with the two tiny portion-packed butter pats for the baked potato but the ol' sour cream, fakin' bacon bits and chives stand was left at the table for our liberal use. The Greek salad had no discernable dressing on it. Something about the cheese on the pizza and the onion soup tasted slightly artificial. Two of us had a glass of red wine, which was served in a glass that was too small, filled to the brim.
It is what it is. If you're looking for a mid-price, non-asian restaurant in the center of Richmond this is one of the few choices.
