Chop offers a relaxed, upscale atmosphere and a Canadian steakhouse menu made using top quality ingredients.
Ate at the Chop at five different occasions. The Steak choices are quite strong. Done to the preference and good quality of the cut. However being a steakhouse is more then just decent quality Steak. Most of the other Entrees and some of the sides are plain average. Service looks good but is young and inexperienced. Todays clientele is more sophisticated and these things get noticed. I'll keep going back for visual effect and ambiance with selected crowd and recommend only selected items from the menu.
I have been to Chop a couple of times. This visit certainly won't endear me to go back. Some friends and I were out and we decided to go for a quick drink at Chop.
I was enticed by the drink specials (vodka mojitos) - disappointed with all of them, we had a sip from each other's drink. They essentially were watered down, with a bit of colouring. I didn't, but probably with hindsight should have complained - I looked around and everyone else (with wine + beer) appeared quite content. I put our drinks order down to being unfortunate.
Having drank half of the grapefruit mojito - i gave up and ordered a jd+coke. It was also below par, this time I did say something. The server did offer a replacement..but 2 out of 2 bad drinks was enough, i couldn't try a third. I was disillusioned with the drink, but i must say, the servers at Chop were good. Granted the place wasnt' busy, but the servers regulary visited each table and appeared to be 'on top of everything'.
If you go, i recommend you order something from a bottle.
