Another BBTplace in Richmond.
I have lots of complaints about this place.
1) Their name:
First of all, they made the restaurant name so fancy that I thought it was a fine dining Chinese Restaurant.
Second, their food is technically TAIWANESE and 5-10% Chinese. C'mon folks, bubble tea is not from China!
Lastly, why do they call a bubble tea place a Cuisine?
2) Their food:
I ordered French Toast and it was loaded w/ batter and it's super duper crispy. Instead of giving me pancake syrup, I was given honey. Yuck! What kind of combo is that? That's NOT traditional French Toast!
My partner ordered some fish w/ rice and the fish was full of tiny bones! Almost choked him to death!
I don't recommend this place! >(
Ambiance is great at this place, and there is plenty of seats even on a Saturday at dinner time (no wonder). Parking is REALLY bad, cos street pay parking is very far too. Obviously, they're trying to pretend they're Pearl Castle (sorry, no where near it).
My partner and I both felt like having hotpots. I ordered spicy tofu, and he ordered tomato and beef. Mine was okay, with lots of veggies, but where is the tofu?!?! I was hoping for a pot kind of like the Korean ones with lots of tofu, but only got a few pieces. I'm okay, cos I can live with just veggies. My partner's hotpot had 3, yes, THREE slices of beef only, and it was flank beef. Do they know that flank is for stir fry?! Maybe 5 thin slices of tomatoes? Most of it was just chinese cabbage.
We ordered 3 skewers of beef half way through our meal because the hotpots were VEGGIE pots. After waiting for 15min, we asked where the skewers were, and the waitress said it's coming. After another 5 min, she came back and said the kitchen didn't make it yet. So we cancelled, and went to have our SECOND dinner at a bubble tea place in the area.
I looked around at other people's food. The deep fried stuff though, looked like they were cooked in stale oil. Bubble teas LOOKED okay, and glad I didn't order any... But they're like $5 each.... Oh yah, I forgot we waited almost half an hour for our hotpots to begin with. WE will NOT go back to this restaurant again.
I really enjoy Chiffon...especially their rice! I like how they give you three samples of side dishes on your plate.
Their food is pretty good compared to most bubble tea places...but their service isn't as great. The girls usually get the wrong order if it's a medium-sized group, but then again, the food is good!
My favourite things on the menu are: souffle toast, marinated pork with red onion sauce (or something like that) and of course, the salt and pepper chicken
Chiffon definitely does not sell "Chinese cuisine". It's a bubble tea place with what I think pretty decent Taiwanese food. I've been there with my parents and my boyfriend's parents. Everybody liked the food and the restaurant is bright and spacious. For the price that they are charging, i really don't have any complaints.
and if you want a place to sit down and chat with your friends, Chiffon is a good choice. It's big enough so there's never a line up and their bubble teas are very solid. I go to Chiffon all the time for casual meals.
