How can 6 different cookies all taste the same??

I grew up going to this bakery in Richmond. I guess I thought it was good back in the day as there were no real bakeries to compare it to. I'm not sure what a "Dutch" bakery is although many bakeries around town use that term, but I think it means everything is white and tastes the same. Even when you go to other "Dutch" bakeries it's like they all have the same stuff. Now that I have travelled the world and tasted real baking this place is bad.

I went in the other day and saw the new place. Sad to see the old one gone as my mom said I had my first ice cream cone there as a baby - I guess they used to have ice cream. The place looked nice and the girl behind the counter robotic. I studied all the "pastries" and white bread and decided to get some cookies for my family. I picked a selection. Price was average at $5 a dozen but not when you consider the quality.

All of the cookies were based on the same white flour dough and just has stuff added. White dough with chocolate chips = chocolate chip cookies. White dough with raisins = "fruit" cookies. White dough with cherries and almonds = well you get the picture. YUK we ended up throwing half away as my family was not even interested. That includes teenagers - nuff said. Even Cobs "Bakeoff"eries are better than this.

Great little bakery. Delicious little cookies, especially pink stripe and birdsnest. The round cheesebread is so delicious, I've been eatting it since I was 8. Sausage rolls are delicous as well, make a great snack. Every one of my family members has been having the fudge cakes every birthday for the last 20 years. So,I'd definately reccomend them. Nice traditional little bakery.

I love this place. I have been going to this bakery for years, and it is by far the best around. Couldn't find a better loaf of white butter crust bread, and other favorites are chocolate chip cookies and cakes (which by the way are very reasonably priced compared to any other bakery in the area, usually under $20). The new location is lovely, some new staff but a few familiar faces and same owners. Haven't had any problems with service, everyone seems pleasant and helpful, and staff has gone out of their way on more then one occasion for last minute orders. Oh well, just adding my two cents as a frequent customer. Also, just wanted to add a helpful suggestion to those that find the pastry tasting like cardboard; take it out of the box before you take a bite, and give Broadmoor a second chance.

Best Dutch Bakery in Lower Mainland

Undoubtedly the best dutch-style bakery in Lower Mainland.
I ordered their white cake with mocha buttercream, and this cake is definitely what a cake should be like. It's what a birthday cake should tastes like. It reminds me of my childhood in the 70s, with those all so yummy birthday cakes. To die for.

Price for cake that feeds 8-10 is 12.50 ~ can't beat it. I will definitely be a regular customer.
