Boston Pizza offers a casual dining atmosphere with over 100 menu items including a selection of pizzas, pastas and a wide variety of appetizers, meal-sized salads, entrees and desserts. The restaurant also has plenty of big screen TVs to catch the big game.
I am not a Boston Pizza fan overall (mostly because of the food and service at the Metrotown location) especially considering a former classmate got food poisoning almost immediately after eating there (Alfredo) while we were trying to crunch through a term project deadline. They did have a large menu and I've always heard good things about their pizza so we came here.
It was the middle of the night and a few of us convened for some grub. We ordered a small Spicy Perogi and a medium Greek. Service has always been spotty at BP and this one was no exception. They're always a bit slower and kitchen speed varies.
The pizzas were a pleasant surprise. They definitely did not look like the pizzas you'd get at pizza joints. Toppings were generous and I especially liked the crust. The toppings on the Greek were a bit underdone which I liked it. The Spicy Perogi was my favourite though. It was a nice balanced of chili infused potato slices, sour cream, green onions and bacon bits with a large dollop of sour cream in the middle. It was unusually spicy considering when most restaurants say it's spicy it really means they put in an extra dash of pepper. It should be fine for most folk who can take a little spice.
Pizzas are pricy encroaching on gourmet prices. Considering that you can eat it in a comfortable booth with drinks and tv arounds I'd say they're worth it.
I've had other items on the menu before and I wouldn't leap too far from the pizzas now that I've finally enjoyed it.
I can actually count the number of times, that I have been to Boston Pizza. This was the first time ever being at this location. The service was fantastic and the server was attentive, and kept checking up on us and asking if I would like more re-fills. I ordered the fettucini Alfredo and a cranberry juice, my friend ordered a pizza Alfredo. When our food came it looked appetizing. I actually had less than half a slice of her pizza and I actually liked it. I ate some of my fettucini Alfredo and it was bland (all I could taste was the noodles) I had mentioned this to my server and he said he would get the kitchen to bring me a cup of Alfredo sauce since it seemed dry. He brought me a HUGE cup of Alfredo sauce, but unfortunatly it was not too much help (maybe it helped a little bit) My friend said however that her pizza was bland too and couldn't taste the sauce. unfortunatly the food was not good. The service however was fantastic. Asides from the service, nothing stood out that would make us want to go back. However, I am hoping that it was just an off day, and I am sure that we will be back to give it another chance.
We chose this place because of their Summer Promotion - Kids under 10 eat free.
12 of us - 6 adults and 6 kids (of which 4 were under 10 yrs old) ventured out to this Boston Pizza. When I made reservation the hostess said that we might have to sit and different tables, when we arrives and asked if they have any open tables for all of us to sit together, they said YES. Good that they are flexible about seating plans.
The waiter was excellent, knowledgable, friendly to the kids and always refilled ice tea and the water and took away the used dishes.
The guys had the Ribber special - the RIbs were excellent - tasty and tender. The wifes had the Pulled Pork, Beef Dip. My wife C said the Beef dip was not too tasty. The kids had the Bug & Cheese, Chicken Strips, Grilled Cheese and Salmon kids special with include drink, side order and dessert (all for free). Overall I think everyone had a good time, had good food and in a good atmosphere.
Location had lots of parking and the w/c were very clean - automatic paper towels and hand wash sinks.
Each family had separate checks, which was okay with them and the 15% gratuity was automatically added on.
Overall, I would recommend this BP ...remember to bring your Airmiles Cards
I think their service is good. Their food gets boring after a while, if you go there often, like I. But it's not bad. It's never been cooked poorly or anything. They once sang happy birthday to me in front of the whole restaurant, and made me stand up on my chair, which was embarassing, but it was fun!
I have never had a worse restaurant experience than my last time at this Boston Pizza. Let me start with the wait for the food - 45 minutes. We ordered nachos and lasagna. The nachos were similar to really greasy Miss Vickie's chips with some cheese on top. For some reason, unlike the rest of the world, they do not use tortilla chips for their nachos. Meanwhile, my lasagna was comparable to Chef Boyardee and the smoothies we ordered were sooooooo sugary. The only good thing I can say about that experience was that the server was really nice and felt really bad about how long the food was taking. Other than that, AVOID this BP. If it's late at night, and this BP is the only restaurant open, just go to McDonald's. You'll be more satisfied.
Boston pizza is a good value. And you 2.99 you get all you can drink pop. I like their pasta tuesdays. they have good baked ravoli. and 3 cheese penne. filling. you definately dont leave there hungry. good cesar salad also. I love boston pizza. keep up the good work!!
I always like the pizza here. Costs a little more but worth it. The waitress told me the store has new management and it seems like the service is better now. Please get some more/bette4r wines!!! Friendly service and good za...I'l drink beer for now. Lots of fancy pizzas, but i stick with the great white north...classic.
I have gone to this boston pizza for years, mostly out of tradition rather than any real loyalty.
The Food: There is some good stuff here and I always come for the nachos with spicy chicken. People I know that worked here will not eat here though. There was some problem with rats and mold in the kitchen/cleaning area before the renovations (this may be completely cleared up).
Service: Service has always been excellent, I never have to wait, waitresses always very social.
Value: Pasta tuesday is great value, I would go elsewhere for pizza though.
Ambiance: Newly updated and the place looks great.
I used to work at another BP's, and Ackroyd was well-known as a joke. It's the "head office" one. We've never had good service the few times that we've bothered going here, have even had to go find a server on two occasions (I've gone 3-4 times). If you heard the rumors/stories the staff tell about this place, it's no wonder.
Things have changed for the better after the remodeling phase: tons of TVs everywhere!
We generally stop in to the bar at this Boston Pizza for the Canucks PPV broadcasts. The folks working the bar area are extremely friendly, and the service is usually quite prompt.
The thing we enjoy best is how the manager comes in and makes little "mini-games" up from the broadcast (e.g. "who scored the last goal") -- usually to give away free food or drink. Excellent idea.
We haven't eaten in the main area for quite some time, but I think watching the PPV broadcasts there would be okay too -- lots of TVs!
I have frequented this BP location over the past few years with my co-workers during the late night hours. It used to be good, but lately is has seriously gone down hill. The foods still the same, good ol stuff but the service has just become abismal. The last few times that I've been here, it's the same old routine:
#1We arrive.
#2Wait several minutes to be acknowledged, then seated.
#3 Wait another 10 minutes or so to be acknowledged at the table at which time our drink orders are taken.
#4 Drinks arrive about 15 minutes later.
#5 Another 15-20 minutes later (keep in mind that I'll now have usually been here 45 min) our food orders are taken.
#6 Drinks are finished, no one in site to ask us if we would like another.
#6 Appys arrive, 30 minutes later at which time another drink orders taken.
#7 Drinks arrive about 10 minutes later.
#8 We almost always have to wait another 45min to 1 hour for our main courses to arrive after we have already recieved our appys.
This place is not what is once was, I will never be going back as I've had enouph of them.
I've never been keen about pizza and all that pasta. I used to come here only for the kids. They had to drag me here, though I always enjoyed their rice bowls a lot. I found all that red in the decor intolerable too, har. Now that it's renovated, all's changed! They're stressing fresh and cool, from what I've seen. Now, every dish I've tasted certainly is fresh, fresh, fresh. I enjoy everything from start to end -- Caesar's salad, pizza, pasta, rice bowls, yum yum. It's ranked very high up with my local favourites now. I am guessing all this change for the better is due to the fact that BP has made this restaurant in Richmond their headquarters. Let's hope they'll continue with all this new freshness over the years.
one of my favourite restuarants.
the food is great, the menu includes pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and burgers.
i would reccomend the share platter, with is roughly $18, but is a great appetizer for 4-6 people. the platter includes, potatoe skins, fried potato chips, wings, garlic bread and more.
the menu changes from time to time, which is great because it gives you new choices. service is a bit slow, but the same as other north-american restuarants ( they wait until all the orders are done, then serve). the place is pretty crowded, so reservations are needed for large groups.
overall, this restuarant is made up of italian cuisine, with a hint of mexican as well.
I really liked their serves after couple visits there. They're always polite and efficient, honestly, you just can't go wrong with their service. I really liked their sandwiches, I think they used less added flavour in this specific store in richmond yet it still tastes as delicious as all other boston pizzas. Moreover, their pizzas are the best best, (according to my brother since I've only tried pasta and sandwiches here.) Also, i was told not to design your own pizza if you don't actually know what you're doing, let the chef do his job! We all know how decent their chefs are, and I do not understand why some people designed their own pizzas and expected them to be better than the ones by the chef. If you go with a friend you might also want to share an appetizer, I've tried the calamari and it wasn't bad at all!
We agree with BK75 whole hearedly...we have tried them on about 3 occasions and each time it appears that they're doing you a favor by serving you. Don't go there if you're in a hurry. I can't say for absolute certain, but it would be reasonable to believe and a coincidence that after I paid for our meal with my credit card (last place used) it was reported to me that is was used elsewhere fraudulently. Never going back!
We've been to BP at Ackroyd a few times, and the food is consistently average, and the atmosphere is bustling and sporty.
The major failing is in the service. We've had instances of being seated and having to wait 15 mins to have our order taken, even when we hail someone. Once, we walked in the doors to the counter, and ended up standing there for nearly 10 mins. The place wasn't busy at all either. Called the hostess to try to get seated, ignored some more. So we just left.
All in all, don't waste your time. Go somewhere else.
Came here because it was close by. Got there, waited a while before a hostess acknowledged our presence (she was busy chatting with other coworkers) then when we finally got our table, we were ignored for over 10 minutes. We kept waiting and waiting for the server to come but he/she never came. We got so tired of waiting that we just stood up and left. Last time i'll ever step into a boston pizza again!
