ABC HK Cafe is located in Aberdeen Centre serving Hong Kong cafe style cuisine.
This restaurant is very nicely decorated, spacious and comfortable, a great place to meet up with friends or have a nice casual meal with family. It also seems very well-managed. They offer a good sized menu, with some items not as commonly found in other similar places. I ordered the ever popular fish noodle soup where you pick your soup base, type of noodles and choice of ingredients. I have ordered this at quite a few HK style cafes and I must say this is the worst I've had. The lobster soup had this awful fishy smell and the ingredients have no taste. It's not that they were skimping on ingredients. They were actually fresh and of good quality. They just don't know how to cook, I guess. What a waste! Why would anyone invest so much in the place, the management, the ingredients, and not find somebody who can cook? It is just too bad. It has so much potential, but nothing makes up for bad food, unfortunately.
We came here for dinner on a saturday night.
They only had set menus & some chinese dishes.
I had the $ 16.95 Pattaya chicken which was served on a sizzling plate.
Two huge chicken pieces served with vegetables + choice of spaghetti, rice, french fries, or onion rings.
Also choice of soup: cream of mushroom, onion, borscht. with puff pastry.
Choice of sauce: mushroom, garlic, onion or cream
Choice of hot drinks
Dessert is Japanese cheesecake
The chicken was very meaty.
I had the borscht & there was big chunks of celery & carrots.
The mushroom sauce as fine, not salty.
The cheesecake was very tiny.
The ovaltine was good.
DH had the $ 15.95 rib-eye with baked potato topped with sour cream & bacon bits but no chives.
He had the cream soup. Said it wasn't watered down like other places.
His steak was very meaty & good.
He ordered HK tea & said it was good.
We would come here again.
