I live in Port moody and make a point of picking up my fix of roti here. I always find Rehanah's service very friendly & quick. She makes everything fresh there and one roti will fill 2 people.
The store is very typical of small ethnic businesses, and have never had a bad meal from there. it sure is a nice change from the typical North American fast food we seem to have on every corner.
I am pleased to see this establishment has run it's course & closed for good.
I live in Newport Village & frequent most of the restaurants in and around the neighbouhood. A couple of years ago new owners took over and things went from bad to worse.
I had many bad experiences there with poor food and very poor service. After one extremely bad experience when I took 8 people for dinner on the patio on a summer Sunday evening.
Things went terribly wrong and we got gin & doda instead of tonic two different times, Prawn cocktail came with no cocktail sauce. A TALL vodka drink came in a highball galass. When my wife querried the waiter smiked and said "it's all the same"
Half my friends walked out.
The following Tuesday I went to the restaurant and discreetly told the owners. The following day one of the owners called me and said I was full of .... and too high maintenance. he then banned me from ever coming back.
Interesting concept of hospitality.
I now look forward to a new company doing the right thing. I hear Browns will open soon & will be very busy there
As a resident of Newport Village for 6 years I have been going to this pub regularly, and I find the management & staff outstanding & willing to give the extra 1% to make the experience fantastic. Since hiring a new chef a few months ago they have introduced 2 new menus, which has taken this pub's food to a new level. Mike, as manager, is always around seen gretting customers by name, and making sure things are running smoothly.
On the Sunday evening of the last long wekend I was coming back from Pitt Meadows with friends for dinner. We got caught in the Pitt Bridge trafic & I realized the kitchen would be closed by the time we arrived. I called ahead, placed our order to go in at 10pm. We arrived to a reserved tabele, with dinner already orderd.
That is going the extra mile !
I have been going to this new cafe since it opened a couple of months ago. Very nice decor, with nice music & a good vibe. They are using JJ Bean coffee, one of Vancouver's best roasters. A smoother tasting coffee than the typical Starbucks. The muffins baked on site a fantastic, and the paninis are extremely good too. They are now selling great salads. The free internet is a nice touch. I'm sure this will get to be a busy spot when the word gets out.
I am frequently in Pitt Meadows and meet friends for a pint. For the last 2 years the mens washroom has been in a disgusting rstae of disrepair. One of the urinals is actually missing off the wall, and the rest od the washroom is the worste I have ever seen. This is a busy pub with a very busy liquor store attached, so money does not seem to be the problem.
This makes the whole dusiness seem disfunctional !
