Looks and tastes like frozen dinner from Superstore

Service was slow (approximately 45 minutes) even though there was only 4 or 5 tables to serve. The food presentation was terrible and the taste forgettable at best. Upon informing the server that the food was mediocre the suggestion was to add a bit of the sauce to it, to improve the taste. The title of this review should spell it all out.

My wife and I had dinner here recently. The place was easy to find and there is lots of parking around. The restaurant itself is on the second floor of the medical building. The decor makes an attempt to be "Mediterranean" but falls a bit short. Having said that, the views of downtown and the North shore mountains are splendid. Menu is diverse and should satisfy most. Having been raised in the North Africa both my wife and I were familiar with the type of food served at Kayan, and thought it was solid but nothing exceptional. The service is definitely lacking a bit. The server was slow and unfamiliar with the menu. We had to order by dish numbers rather than the names.
There is belly dancing as well but if you have seen authentic belly dancers in the Middle East this performance will not quite measure up.
There was an automatic 15% tip added to the bill, something usually reserved for large parties. This did not overly impress me, especially given the quality of service.
Overall a decent experience but nothing to write home about.
