Watermark1305 Arbutus St., Vancouver
Great Location
Submitted Thursday, November 23, 2006 - 5:02pm [Dine in]

After hearing lots about Watermark i went to try it out with my family. The Location is beautiful and great for relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. The food was okee and nothing special for me. The menu seemed very limited and cheap, so i wasn't impressed. Cheap as in the way it looks and how it was made, not the prices.

The thing that put me off from this restaurant is the service. The waiters seemed like 16 year olds and dressed really unproffessionaly. They were almost to the point of being rude and awekward. Maybe they just hired a whole bunch of people when i went, i don't know.

Theres many other restaurants with better food n service, but if u just want a drink and enjoy the view in that specific area then i guess this place is built just for that.

A Delight

Ive been to orchid delight ever since it was in surrey. Ive been to ever south easy asian restaurant in the lower mainland and ive got to say this is my favourite place. The chicken rice is the best besides my wifes cooking. The char kway teo, mee goreng and many other dishes are very tasty and authentic. Many other places have a Malaysian or Singaporean "style" but are catered to more westerners.

Ive eaten at so many singaporean and malaysian restaurants im pretty sure i can tell whats authentic and this place comes pretty close to it. Tropica, Bannana Leaf and all the others are decent but not as authentic or tasty for that matter.

The only thing id say is that id want a huge dish of green onions for the chicken rice the next time i order.

chicken rice

Ive eaten at Tamarind Hill many times. Ive also eaten at many other south east asian restaurants all over vancouver and south east asia specifically singapore and malaysia.

Anyone who is from south east asia will know that the chicken rice at Tamarind Hill tries to be just that, authentic. While i can't say it is the best chicken rice ever, the chicken has been consistantly moist, tender, juicy and tasty. The rice however id try to make a bit tastier and not so dry, but i guess it depends whatever people like.

The murtabak is the best in vancouver ive tasted and the most authentic although a little jazzed up. Really friendly servers, quaint atmosphere and area.

Our family goes at least once a week so im sure they enjoy it as well!
