(3.1) (3.3) (2.5) (3.8) (2.8)I have been to many traditional Chinese hot pots but never a Japanese one. Well, I have to tell you that the Japanese version is much better. The waiter was very nice and helpful. The food kept coming and was very fresh. The waiter made some wonderful suggestions and the broth was terrific. For the price, I do not think that there is anything better in the area.
My boyfriend always tells about this place by his work and says it is the nicest bar in BC. I went there for a hockey game and I would have to somewhat agree.
My girlfriends and I went on a night where there was a boxing fight and a hockey game so we had to line up. That kind of suck seeing how everyone in the line thinks that they are more important than everyone else - there were people name dropping, trying to bribe the security and some people even yelling at the poor security guys. A manager came out and told everyone to be patient and that everyone would get in as soon as they we caught up. A little irritating!
When we finally got in, it took a little while for us to find somewhere to sit because the place is HUGH and packed. We end up sitting at a corner of the small bar in the back area so miss out the big screen but oh well. The 2 bartenders were nice and attentive even though they were run off their feet. The menu was small and the food was fair. It didn't take as long as I expected to receive the food seeing how everyone in the place was eating.
Overall, not a bad place, had a good time and it was not overly expensive.
I moved to New West in December 2007 when this place first opened and I was actually there the first day they were open. Now, a year and a half later nothing has really changed, luke warm microwaved food, slow service and confused staff. I mean Boston Pizza is Boston Pizza regardless of its location, but this one for some reason takes the fundamentals and throws them out the window.
Went there for lunch and the value was great. Big pieces of fish and mountains of fries for very cheap. Waiter was nice and did what he needed to do. When the fish came out it was almost to hot to eat. I could not get enough of the homemade tarter sauce (waiter had to refill my bottle). Only complaint would be the place just needs a good cleaning to attract different clientele (place is filled with regulars).
