Great food for the value

Have been going here for a few years years and it is still one of my favourite spots. The lunch specials available from 11-4are $4.95 with the purchase of a beverage. The portions a just right for me, i always leave satisfied. For lunch I like getting the chicken souvlaki or a pasta dish. The souvlaki comes with pita bread, salad, rice and potatoes, well worth the price. The pasta dishes come with garlic toast and the portion is generous as all their portions are.

For dinner there is a different special from 5pm - 9pm roughly mon-thurs. Mon - 6oz steak, Tues - any burger off the menu (except the salmon burger, Wed - Chicken Souvlaki, Thurs Salmon. Dinner specials are $5.95 with the purchase of any beverage. I really like the salmon dinner, the salmon is a little crispy on the outside and really juicy in the inside.
Most dinners come with rice, potatoes, salad and garlic toast. The calamari appetizer is good too, not overly battered.

Great value for the food. Pretty dark inside, and service can be slow if it is really busy but most of the time they are pretty good.

Good Thai

Been going to this place for a few years now. Lunch specials are roughly 6.95 -8.25 and are pretty good for the price. The srping rolls are good, i think i like the dipping sauce more than the roll itself but thats just me. The curries are good, i especially like the masamune (not sure if thats how you spell it). The pad thai is made with tamarind sauce not ketchup and is pretty good. the dinner prices are roughly $10 a dish, a little more if you get seafood. Not much decor but the place is nice as it is. Nice place if you want thai food.

Been here a few times. Had the chicken karaage, was good. Tried a few rolls including the dynamite roll, the sushi is good. The one dish that did stand out for me was the tuna tataki. It was refreshing and sweet, a little different than other tuna tataki that i've tried in the past. Place is pretty clean and the decor is nice. Decent place to go if your in the area.

Been here a few times for lunch only. The lunch specials are roughly $4.50 - $5.50 which I think is pretty cheap. Nothing fancy but the food is good definitely worth the price. Spicy fried squid is good, salty but good. Pan fried beef noodles are good too. Good spot for a quick, cheap decent lunch if your in the neighbourhood. Service is always friendly and fast the times i have been there.

Jiro

I've been going to Jiro for a few years now and everytime it doesn't fail to dissapoint. You can order from the regular menu or you can do all you can eat. Lunch all you can eat is $11.95 while dinner is $18.95. For dinner their is a much wider selection, no limit to sashimi, and you can order either seafood of beef hotpot to cook at your table.

The quality of food is always consistently good. The sushi always tastes fresh and is always nicely prepared. My favourite dishes here are the oyster motoyaki and the salmon terikyaki. I especially like the cuts they use for the salmon teriyaki as it is the belly part of the salmon.

The restaurant itself is o.k, with booths and rooms. Typical setup for a Japanese restaurant. They have one big screen T.V which is usally on sports. Service is solid and friendly and parking is easy to find all around the area.

It's on the second floor across kingsgate mall on east broadway, a definate must try!
