Food is ok but service is not that great
Submitted Friday, October 8, 2010 - 10:41am [Dine in]

We went for lunch with our kids and ordered the choose 4 dishes for $19.95. We ordered the bulgogi ($2 extra), seafood pancake, jajangmyun and some udon dish. I was surprised the portions were regular sized. The food was great and I enjoyed them since I love korean food a lot. I thought of ordering extra but we were full.

Service-wise, it took a few times to holler a waitress (no bell on the table. strange for a korean restaurant). I asked for a scissors from a waitress, she went and never came back with it. Had to ask another for it.

I have come to a conclusion (after eating in most of the top korean restaurants in the lower mainland) is that if you aren't a Korean or can't speak Korean, don't expect top service. To me, as long as the food is great and the service is so-so, I don't care much.

Great sushi but expensive
Submitted Friday, October 8, 2010 - 10:21am [Take-out]

The place is really too small to seat a lot of people. 4 at the counter and maybe 6 at the bar table & chairs. We tried it last Saturday for the first time and ordered spicy salmon, cajun roll, negitoro and avocado& tuna roll. All were so good and the bill was over $24. On Sunday, we got take out again when my father in law came for a visit. Cajun lunch, California lunch, ebi sunomono and negihama maki. Bill came to over $35.

But it was delicious and fresh. I have no complaints whatsoever on the quality of the food. The california roll has a huge amount of filling with just a short layer of rice. That's how sushi is supposed to be.

We can't be ordering from Taka that often because it's just so expensive. But the sushi is just so good.

Great food but...

I used to come here all the time. Love the lunch special of spicy cold noodle with bulgogi. BUT one afternoon, we were seated at the same table with 2 other guys. They finished first and left. The man with glasses (as the previous reviewer said), took back into the kitchen the side dishes that those two other guys didn't eat. The rest was cleared by someone else. Yuck and double yuck!! Since then, I haven't been back.

I also find that they are more attentive to fellow Koreans but not as much to everyone else.
