My partner and me decided to give Rodney's "low tide" menu a try. We had oysters, mussels and clams - all of which were delicious. The sauces they give you for the oysters also gives the taste of the oysters a nice edge. I know some of the other reviewers complained about the service but we found the server to be friendly and efficient. It was quite quiet to start with (we went at 4pm on a Saturday) but by the time we let at 6pm it was pretty busy. We will definitely go back - probably at "low tide" again.
I would say this is a lunch place - not for dinner (or even brunch). I like the food but feel it is a tad overpriced. The service is always (and always has been) terrible here. None of the servers are ever friendly. However, it's close to my work (which is why I go) and as I say the food is good. If you go at lunch time be prepared to wait for a table as it's always busy.
I have eaten here twice now and will definitely return! As a celiac this is one of the only places in Vancouver that offer gluten free pizza. It is very expensive but definitely worth it!
Their salads are also excellent (particularly the goat cheese one) as are the dessets.
The sevice on both occasions has been very slow but neither time were we in a rush so it didn't impact the evening.
Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant!!
I ate here with a large crowd a couple of weeks ago. The food was very good but expensive for what you got. We all ordered a couple of tapas each (which the server suggested), plus dessert - I was still hungry at the end of the meal. So I would suggest perhaps ordering five tapas per couple of people.
The server was attentive and polite throughout.
I would possibly eat here again as a treat and I think as far as Tapas restaurants in Vancouver go this is probably one of the better ones.
