Won't return
Submitted Sunday, August 2, 2009 - 9:19pm [Dine in]

Went to dinner wtih family because of the $8.99/pound lobster special. The lobster was ok except it's a bit too salty, and in order to get the special price, you need to pay additional $8 to add noodle to serve with the lobster. We ordered 3 other dishes - chicken (no taste), sweet & sour pork (too much sauce), and a veggie (ok). At the time we paid the bill, the waitress told us that their visa machine was not working so we could only pay by cash! I wish they would have put a sign at the door because for a $90 bill, you couldn't expect people to pay cash! There is no bank in the plaza but luckily we had enough cash! Given the food quality and poor service I would not recommend anyone to go!

Very good!!
Submitted Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 7:18pm [Dine in]

I've been to Provence Marinaside few times and their food and services are very consistent so I never border to write a review in the past. But I thought that I should let everyone know that it's a very good restaurant in False Creek / Yaletown area.

I love seafood and they have lots of seafood selections - mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp provencal, bouillabaise - they are all well prepared, very consistent, never too salty. It's better than a lot of restaurants in DT / Yaletown area in my opinion.

Better than before

I've been there twice since it changed ownership recently. Compare to the time with the previous owner, the food/drink is way better than before and that's why I went for a 2nd time. They offer the same menu during lunch and dinner, and there are quite a lot of selectoins on the menu, just like any other Hong Kong sytle cafe restaurant. You're looking to spend ~$10 per head including tips, which is okay for dinner. Just give it another try.

Love it!

I went to Watermark for the first time trying their dine out menu, we had a window table overseeing the beach, it would be better at summer time when sunset is at 9pm.

There are lots of selections. The bread was good (we had to ask the server to bring to us while we saw other tables didn't have to ask for it), the seafood chowder was rich and tasty and even better with the bread! My friend had the prawn, the size was generous. We had salmon and bouillaisse and both tasted very good. We were both full before dessert time but we still managed to finish them cuz they really tasted good!

One time is enough
Submitted Friday, February 1, 2008 - 6:26pm [Dine in]

Went to Metro on dine out after hearing from a friend that it was good on last year's dine out. The ambiance is nice and cozy. The calamari appetizer was tasty. I ordered the land sample-the sirloin and venison were good but the duck tasted like lamb for some reason. My friend had the sea sample and it was good overall but not good enough for us to go again. We did add a mushroom side dish but after the meal we both didn't fell full. I've had other dine out experience and I always felt full after the meal. So maybe the 'sampling' size of meal is not my cup of tea.

NOT worth a try!!
Submitted Tuesday, November 13, 2007 - 6:52pm [Dine in]

FOOD: For the pricing we're paying, I would expect quality of Guu or Gyoza King, but it was a big disappointment. My husband got sick after eating there, they've probably put lots of MSG on their food. We ordered 6 dishes (all tapa size) and the bill was $50.

SERVICE: All the servers were pretty good but the one who took our order didn't seem to know much about the menu and she didn't seem to speak fluent English. She suggested us to order one of the dishes but when I asked her what's in it, she just stood there and smile....hello??? she suggested me to order the dish and she didn't even know what ingredients are used!!!

If you want Izakaya food, go back to somewhere that's own by real Japanese people!

Worth a try!

I've been there once and I'd definitely go again. The pasta dish portion is huge, even a guy couldn't finish it. We also tried the scallop appetizer and I didn't expect that many scallops for $9!! It's worth a try there!

Poor Service!
Submitted Thursday, November 9, 2006 - 6:55pm [Dine in]

I agree the food is good at Top Shanghai Cuisine. However, I received the worst service in my life that I wouldn't re-visit this restaurant. It's just not worth it! We ordered different dishes and it was supposed to be obvious that some dishes should come before other dishes but that was not the case in this restaurant. We were 3 ppl and the whole meal took us almost 2 hours, no matter how many times you reminded the waitress(es) that we're still waiting for our dishes, the answer was the same - THEY'RE ON THEIR WAY. Forgot how much we paid for the meal but we also left less than $1 tips! Don't go there cuz it'll ruin your mood of the day!
