I've driven past this restaurant a couple of times and finally decided to try it out.
My partner and I were asked to be seated anywhere we liked. There were only three or four other tables around us that were occupied at this time.
Service: Not very good. Although the waitress was very polite, she was constantly engaged in conversations with other tables which led to slow service.
Food+Value: The food was average... very little variety and the price was so-so. Not fit for casual munching.
Ambiance: A unique fresh look, I like it.
Overall: Nice people, nice environment, but I would definitely think twice before coming again.
Been here a couple of times with a group of 4-6 but never got around to putting a review in.
Food: Overall, I would say the food is solid. The edamame I ordered came out cold but on the other hand, the tonkatsu I ordered came out hot and tasty. There isn't a real big selection of food, but it's worth the price(11$-12$).
Service: Average. Sometimes I would have a hard time communicating in English to one of the waiters or waitresses for more tea refills, napkins, or food orders.
Area: Don't expect too much from an AYCE restaurant, they're not always "clean". Make sure to double check your plates and tea cups before using.
A good place for late night AYCE.
Great place for special occasions. I've come here many times, they do not take reservations, so prepare to go there earlier for a table.
Food: Excellent. The medium-rare steak that I ordered was very juicy and the fully-loaded baked potato was just deeeeeee-licious.
Service: Very polite waitresses. Constant water refills and "how is your meal so far?".
Area: The restaurant gives a very cozy feeling when seated.
Food: Very satisfying. My all-time favourite would be the Roti Canai to start for an appetizer.
Service: Great service, waiters/waitresses constantly refills water, asks how your meal is so far, and asks if there is anything else you'd like.
Area: I love the interior of Banana Leaf. The dim lights, the decorations, and background music that seeps throughout the entire restaurant.
Dislikes:
For a fabulous restaurant that can seat around 50-60 people at a time, there are only 6-8 parking spots at the back... But there are parking meters at the front of Banana Leaf...
Food: I've eaten here quite a few times already. The food is outstanding overall except the instant noodle ramen. My all-time favourite is the spicy scallop roll and dynamite roll.
Service: Solid service, my tea gets refilled at least 4-5 times every visit. The workers are all energetic and and smiley every time I enter and exit the restaurant.
Dislikes:
Parking is not a big issue along Victoria and 41st, but it does get quite annoying when you have to circle around for a parking spot with a busy traffic behind you.
Good food, good price.
I come once or twice every 2 weeks. The variety of food keeps me from getting bored. The workers are all energetic and seem to enjoy their job. You get quite a bit of rice with side dishes of your choice that ranges from a price of 5-10$. They come in those rectangular take-out boxes. Definitely recommended if you don't feel like cooking for a night.
I've been here since this shop first opened during my high school years. Back then the service was really terrible(BBT's and food orders took 45mins-1h to come out, asking for the bill took another 30mins minimum).
Up until now, the food and drinks have been average, the service is still terrible as ever. The only time I come here is when I do not feel like driving. For people who are driving, I suggest you choose a better place.
Dislikes:
Service, service, service.
Food: You get a very good portion of what you're paying for. I'd even consider it an Asian-version of Anton's Pasta when comparing the size.
Service: Average. I can't say it's really good nor bad.
Dislikes:
The parking lot is very cramped and shared amongst 3-4 other restaurants.
The restaurant itself is quite dirty(tables, utensils, floors).
Solid food, there is no disagreement to that.
Service was average, you'd most likely have to call them over to place your orders. If not, you'll be sitting there and watching them walk by you over and over without saying a word.
Dislike: They charged us a gratuity fee of 10%-15% onto our bill without saying anything. By the way, this was lunch for a table for Four.
