Great food, Awesome value

A wonderful addition to the somewhat-boring Kerrisdale restaurant scene! My parents have eaten here on numerous occasions and love the honest, traditional Vietnamese cooking. I have dined here a few times on my way back downtown from my folks place. I quickly learned why this is a favourite among the family. Specialities are the Vietnamese beef noodle soup, deep-fried spring rolls, chicken hot pot, rice crepe and the chicken curry. As the critic below my review might think the food is bland, that's because the kitchen does not use MSG sparingly as other typical Vietnamese restaurants do. I definitely don't have that drying mouth sensation after having a meal here!!! FYI all the rice noodles are made in house. The decor may not be award-winning as the owner designed the renovation herself, but the food will have you coming back. The only drawback is that there is not a Sugarcane nearer to my office downtown!!!

New frozen yoghurt place in town!
Submitted Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - 10:56pm [Dine in]

Went to try this latest addition to the frozen yoghurt scene in Downtown last weekend. I think there must be quite a following for this "pseudo ice cream" as shops (Blueberry, Froyoswirl, Scoop) have been popping all over town. Been to every place a few times and Blueberry was my favourite. But now that Qoola has opened, I would rather come here. First off, they have more flavours such as Chocolate and Raspberry, and crepes & waffles. I have been enjoying their slushee mixed with yoghurt. Secondly, the space is very inviting and there are more tables to sit at. The only complaint is that the yoghurt is sometimes too soft, but after telling one of the girls there, I was informed that the yoghurt is liquid based instead of powdered base and is healthier. I will definitely be back! Can't wait till the summer!!

Terrible Service
Submitted Thursday, June 5, 2008 - 2:31pm [Dine in]

Had dinner here on Sat night with 9 other friends. We sat downstairs which was designated for larger parties. When we made the reservation there was no mention that parties of 6 or more could only order from a set menu. The service was unbelievably slow. The entrees did not arrive until an hour and a half after we submitted the order. AND the food came out lukewarm. We complained to the owner and he was unapologetic. He argued with us that everything is fresh and the kitchen does not have a microwave or freezer hence the delay. Our group did not want to pay the 17% gratuity for tables of 7 or more as the service was appalling. The owner was gracious enough to take that off the check. I definitely will not be returning as the food and the overall experience was not worth it at all.
