I want to like it
Submitted Friday, March 9, 2012 - 8:58pm [Dine in]

This place kind of leaves me feeling conflicted. The menu is interesting and I always find their food to be tasty and interesting, but I find that their burgers are waayyy to saucy and sometimes the sauce drowns out the other flavours. While eating my plate is always covered in liquidy sauce that is too thin to soak up with fries or to swipe the burger in, these are not drips - its like running out of the burger. Their offerings are interesting enough that I can try to overlook this flaw but I always feel like they have just missed the mark a little bit which I think is a shame!
The ambiance is nice and the service is friendly.

Move over Noodle Box
Submitted Friday, March 9, 2012 - 8:49pm [Take-out]

This place is awesome, we eat here several times a month at least. The packaging that the food comes in seems tiny, the first time we went we were feeling ripped off and worried we hadn't ordered enough food on our way home but when we emptied out the containers we discovered very generous portions that were just tightly packed (environmentally friendly!).
The flavors are exciting, satisfying, and well balanced, the service is always friendly and laid back, and the menu has a variety of interesting options. They have daily specials to supplement the small menu.
Try the papaya salad and the french lentil dahl (a frequent offering on their specials board). If they offered the dahl on their main menu I think I would eat it every day (except you might want to skip the fried bread it is a bit greasy).
They once had a curry chicken bahn mi that was seriously THE BEST sandwich I have EVER eaten.
Try this next time you are thinking of Noodle Box and you will not be disappointed!!!

Going down hill

Used to be great, lately the service has been sub par. Choices on the menu are interesting and have a local spin, BUT are not always properly executed and a little pricey. Once the cheese on our $14 nachos wasn't even melted...seriously! If you do go try the salmon fish and chips...or the chocolate and beer taster. They do let you do half salad half fried for your side with the pub fare, which is neat. If they found some better servers and more attentive kitchen staff they would be excellent.. the concept is great.

Aweomse bennys

This place is really fun. Great fresh food, especially the bennys! with organic coffee. You can't help but feel cheerful with their sunny decor and friendly staff. Can be quite busy on the weekends but well worth the wait. Two thumbs up!

Excellent

The service was impeccable, the wine pairings were perfect, and the food was very flavourful and thoughtfully prepared. Everything about this dining experience was wonderful and we will definately go back. It is definately fine dining and the price (although not extranneous!) reflects that. That being said, it was so excellent that we would be willing to eat out less so we could spend more here.

Overrated
Submitted Monday, February 25, 2008 - 12:03am [Dine in]

It's just noodles, vegetables and meat (or tofu) in a box. I like the idea, and sometimes their dishes are good but when it comes down to it, it's overpriced and overrated. It can get really busy which means waiting more than 20 - 30 minutes. They can be really heavy handed with the spice (even ordering mild medium, i do like spicy food but a few times it has almost been inedible) and there is always so much sloppy sauce left in the bottom after all the noodles are gone. Plus forget trying to park near either location during the lunch and dinner rush... If you do decide to go here, phone your order in ahead of time!

This place is really neat. It has a different atmosphere than the other coffee shops in town. The service is always really friendly and fun, the food choices are interesting (try their paninis, although greasy they are really good!) and the seating is very comfortable (good place to study). I haven't tried their highballs but everything else they serve is excellent.
This place is worth a visit just for the baristas and the pretty foam designs in the drinks!!

Great cheap wings
Submitted Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 11:43pm [Dine in]

They have wing specials all day on Mondays and Wednesday and everyday after 8pm, really good, nice and crispy with lots of sauce. I would stay away from the Teriyaki or Honey Garlic though, way too thick and sweet, obviously from a jar. Their menu is very typical pub food, but it is done well, nothing outstanding (other than the wings) but a decent affordable selection. The indoor/outdoor patio (formerly the smoking area) has recently been redone and looks really nice. Service can be hit or miss sometimes but is usually pretty good. If you are looking for a laid back place with good wings and a fast kitchen, where you can drink lots of beer and be a bit rowdy this (the pub side) is a great spot!

Best sushi in Victoria
Submitted Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 11:28pm [Dine in]

I have tried most of the sushi places in Victoria and this is hands down the best. They have creative maki rolls that are very flavourful and well thought out, taste, texture, presentation, uniqueness, it's all there. Try the kamakazi roll for a real treat, like a spicy tuna roll but not so run of the mill. The booths are slightly akward to get in and out of but they are cozy once you sit down and we prefer them to the main dining area which can be busy around lunch, espcially on Fridays! This place really is a gem, and is worth going a little out of the way for.

Unbelievably poor service
Submitted Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 11:14pm [Dine in]

The last two times we went here we were shocked by how bad the service was. The first time, 4 tables were seated and had their orders taken after us, yet they all had their food before we did (some of them had order the same things that we had) one table even paid their bill and left before we got our food. The server automatically brought vinegar and ketchup to the other tables with the meals but we had to ask for ours and then the server never came back with it. Had to ask another server for water and a napkin, that also never came. Was asked for ID when using my debit card... Then we tried it again and the server wouldn't even bother to reach onto the table to put down or pick up dishes.. she would point at the water glasses so we would pass them to her to fill. This is unfortunate because the menu is laid out very nicely, and some of the dishes are very tasty and interesting. If you do decide to brave the awful service go for the curry prawns with yam chips, although I really don't feel it is worth it when so many other places make great food without the attitude.
