I used to be a regular

Over the past 4 years I have eaten here many times and was always happy with the food and service. Ever since the new " food architect" took command things have changed. The food is not as good as it was, the portions are smaller, the prices have increased and service has declined. On my last visit ( and it will be my last ) the serivce was terrible, we waited 15 minutes to place our orders and finally the floor manager took our order after noticing we had been ignored by the wait staff. Our server then brought us some water delivered on a tray filled with dirty dishes and said nothing more to us. When lunch finally arrived it was a disappointment, the taste had changed for the worse and the portions had shrunk. The server continued to ignore until it was time to bring the bill. When a rstaurant like the Cactus Club charges an average of $15.00 + excluding drinks customers deserve better than this. I won't be returning anytime soon.

What am I missing

Based on several postive reviews here and in the paper I've tried this place a few times. Maybe it's me but the food just isn't very good even the toast is sub-par and the coffee is worse. The decor is shabby and the service is indifferent at best. I won't be giving it any more tries. So for those of you regulars who are worried about being crowded out don't be, Honestly just about any greasy spoon in town is cheaper and better than this place and you won't have to line up.

I had hoped that the CBC Morning show's positive review of this restaurant several months ago would prove to be true. It purports to provide a more authentic Mexican food experience than the usual "Tex-Mex". It does have a few items that you won't finds at other Mexican Restaurants but the food and the presentation is average at best. Definitely lacking in value for the dollar. The service is terrible. I will never return.
