service was horrible and the manager got mad at us for not tipping. I usually do not tip if its not derserving. It's amazing that the restaurant would rather lose a customer than address their own problems with the service. Never going back again. And this place has an unusual smell when coming in, much like garbage.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a new addition to Ladner's array of excellent restaurants when I saw that the now defunct La Strada had become a new restaurant -- Lotsa Pasta Bar. I decided to go and try out the new restaurant since I wasn't impressed with the food La Strada served. This is where I get confused. When reading the menu I realized that it was pretty much the same food La Strada had offered. Nothing really much changed other than the size of the menu which apparently became smaller. I asked the waitress if the restaurant was under new ownership and she said no, that they had just changed their name. Now, I'm no expert in restaurants but if your going to change a restaurant hoping to make it a success shouldn't you change the menu? I was disappointed that there was nothing that enticed my palate. I ended up ordering the boccocini salad which was just average. The dressing was a bit strong, making it difficult to finish. As for my main course I had LInguine Sausage and Peppers which taste wise okay but presented in a very sloppy way. There was just too much sauce and the peppers were overcooked making it mushy. It was just unappealing to the eye. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to any of my friends until it begins to serve food that is up to par with the standard that customers expect.
Loved the food, service, and ambiance. One suggestion would be to update the decor. It is a bit outdated seemingly from the 1980's. Nonetheless, I would take wonderful food over decor any day and since they are always busy I assume most people have a similar opinion.
went for dinner with the miss before a movie. The place has a great vibe other than the fact that it can get a bit loud, making it difficult to converse with your significant other. With regard to the food I found it a big dissapointment. My pasta had too much sauce and no taste. I kept on putting parmesan to liven up the dish. I just think if they put more attention to executing the dish in the way it was meant to be served i.e. authentic Italian they would develop a bigger following.
Nothing special when it comes to their menu but for quality, consistent food, its a good choice. I usually have their Asian spring rolls to start which come with a wonderful sweet n' sour dipping sauce. For the main course I stick to their mushroom burger with steak fries. Very filling for the price you pay. Great casual restaurant in the Tsawwassen area.
I heard that the restaurant recently had a fire. I hope that they will be reopening because the food and service is always great. I always enjoyed their pasta. Always made al dente and the sauces are incredible. If anyone hears of anything please let me know!!
Marcello has good food but what constantly hurts this restaurant is incompetent service staff. I went there about a month ago around 5 p.m. with a friend of mine. We requested if we could sit at a larger table since we are both tall guys and needed the extra elbow room. The waitress rudely said "No, we can't do that". Now, I would understand if the restaurant had a line up and giving us a larger table would meant losing seats but the restaurant only had two other tables being occupied. Plus we weren;t planning to stay long because we had to catch a 7:00 movie. Once explaining this to her she still said "No". That shows you that this restaurant is more concerned about turning tables than trying to provide good service. Too bad for Marcello, they lost me as a customer and I can guarantee I wont be the last.
went there last evening and was very impressed with their attention to detail. Although their portions are small the combinations of flavours compliment each other leaving ur palate always entertained and wanting more. Highly recommened for a nice evening with a special someone.
One of my favourite Italian restaurants. Serves fresh food with an imaginative twist. I had the lamb shank osobuco which was delicious. Subtle flavours. They prawn linquine is also good. The pasta is al dente and is not drentched in sauce. Can be a bit busy on the weekends so go early.
I was reading the newspaper and saw an article about this nice little seafood restaurant in Ladner. Since I was planning to head out there with my wife and son on Sunday I decided to give this place a try. From the nice weather to the quite settings I was confident it was going to be a good day-- WHAT A MISTAKE!. We were promptly seated which to me is a good sign but I am now reevaluating my expectations. Me and the wife first started off with the Sharkey chowder. The tomato broth was very acidy, and had a weird old fishy taste to it. My son had a ceasar salad and he had no complaints. The main course was the worst. I ordered the Curried Prawn linguine. Came with a dill cream sauce or something. They should of served it with a spoon. The sauce was so watery that I could barely taste the dill or the curry. The pasta was also overcooked, like it came from a can. Overall, an abmismal experience. The only bright side to this was our nice waitress who was very accommodating. I guess a restaurant next to the water is an illusion of freshness.
