Quite mediocre
Submitted Monday, February 4, 2008 - 1:23am [Dine in]

Given the usual menu prices (based on online research), we figured the $35 dine out menu would be a very good deal. Not so, unfortunately. The service at the door was snooty and unsmiling- a bad start. Then, we had to wait quite a long time for our reserved table. In any case, we were determined to have a great night so we happily started making our selections. To our dismay, we realized the dine out menu is a total sham. Over half the items require an add-on costing 10-12 dollars. Of course, you can choose not to add them (which was our choice) but you do feel you're missing the true dish as the chef meant it. The result is the food is quite mediocre, from starters to mains to desserts. For the prices they charge, you'd expect absolutely delicious food but it's just ok. Our service was indifferent and the ambiance is nothing special. I'd definitely pass on C Restaurant. It's not worth the price.

Exquisite food

We came for dine out and were totally impressed. For starters we had the endive salad which was very creative and delicious; our desserts were good as well but it was our mains that blew our minds. The trout was incredibly delicious (best fish I've ever tasted) as were a very large portion of flavourful mussels. We actually messed up our reservation night and came a day early but they were very pleasant and accommodating about it. Our server was warm and professional and the ambiance is very cool and chic, although it got a bit loud after the Canucks crowd came in after the game. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Great food!

I just wanted to add to previous reviews and agree that Akira is a great place to come for sushi and bento box if you're in this neighbourhood. The ambiance is very cozy and casual- a mom and pop style restaurant. However, after eating, my friends commented that it was possibly the best value ($) for food quality they had experienced for Japanese food.
