Good food, but...
Submitted Friday, January 4, 2008 - 3:20am [Dine in]

food: enjoyed the all you can eat offer and it was delightfully filling. ordered everything from mussels to tofu to korean bbq. food seemed quite fresh and came quickly too.

service: restaurant was quite busy so the server mightve been a bit rushed/stressed out. i think if it was less busy, his attitude mightve been better

ambience: had a booth for a group of us and it was nice and private. ventilation is rather poor though, as the smoke from bbq lingered for a while and the smell got on all my clothes... a bigger fan of some sort would be appreciated.

worth visiting again

food: pretty good portion given the price. had the special and it was quite filling for around 15 bucks. taste is decent too.

service: very slow, but probably because it was new years. would've appreciated one more waitress though. left us waiting at the door/ordering for quite a bit. the poor girl had to handle more than 5 new tables...

ambience: although the restaurant is a bit small/cramped, the atmosphere was very welcoming and warm. lovely, cozy feeling. love the ceiling decor with the hanging grapes/vines.

solid, but richmond branch is better
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 7:56pm [Dine in]

food:
had one of their lunch special and it was just ok. felt a little bit like it was just a bunch of unrelated food thrown together, but it tasted allright. richmond branch is better with food, i think.

service:
was decent. quick and informative, but didn't take a lot of initiative to talk or smile that much. overall solid.

ambience:
very pretty private bathroom! lately i always look at bathrooms as an indicator of restaurant quality and hygene. interior of restaurant is nice too. love how its quiet on second floor, overlooking busy robson street-very nice contrast.

very unique ambience!
Submitted Friday, December 28, 2007 - 7:49pm [Dine in]

food:
had the dan dan noodles for lunch and it was very good! price for food is comparable to lunch elsewhere-around ten. also ordered a pot of tea-very good, albeit a bit expensive...

service:
would've liked it a bit faster, but thats probably because its a young restaurant. attitude was very good though-smiled a lot. was also patient with ordering (i always take a long time thinking)

ambience:
ADORE the bathroom! so clean and unique, which resembles the restaurant i guess. everything else is very unique with wood and chinese paintings and such. but also modern with big-screen tvs. location is also convenient since its quite close to where i work.

overall solid

food - every time we go, we always get the green beans because they're very well-cooked and the flavour is seared right through. their lobster vermicelli dish is also delicious. this branch is much better than the downtown one.

serivce - a little under par than what i expect since it seems to be a pretty nice restaurant otherwise.

ambience - decent appearance. really like the tall glass windows and the space between tables. a good place to go for an informal meeting, date, or meal with friends.

a great place for dimsum
Submitted Sunday, December 23, 2007 - 5:03pm [Dine in]

our family comes here all the time and we love the dimsum here! definately one of the best dimsum places in greater vancouver. their food is high-quality, clean, and delicious! we love their shrimp dumplings.

service and ambience is what you'd expect from a chinese dimsum place. it's actually better than many of the other dimsum places around town.

try their shrimp dumplings!

made me a loyal customer!

i'll speak from a specific experience here. my waiter forgot our appetizer and brought the entrees first. at first we were really angry because we came just for that appetizer. to be honest, we didn't expect him to be able to salvage the situation at all. but to our surprise, he brought out the appetizer within 2 min after our complaint! he didn't charge us for the appetizer either, so we were pleased with that. before we left, he came back and personally apologized again, leaving us with a very positive feeling. we give him credit or being able to turn an angry customer into a happy one! definitely going back sometime.

overall a good time!
Submitted Sunday, December 23, 2007 - 4:26pm [Dine in]

my friends and i went here for a birthday celebration and decided to go all you can eat. we didn't order the deluxe all you can eat meal but it was just as good nonetheless! i'm usually not a big fan of japanese food, but the stuff here was really good!

service i admit could be improved. very typical asian restaurant service style: no smiles, quick responses, always look like they're in a hurry. we had a man take our order looking like he was impatient.

it's a pretty good deal if you want decent all you can eat japanese food. for the next birthday celebration, my friends and i will probably go again!

service was the only highlight
Submitted Sunday, December 23, 2007 - 4:17pm [Dine in]

food: we had the szechwan string beans and it was dissappointing. apparantly the waitress said it was the house special, but if this is the house special, i'd worry just a little bit. the beans werent even fully cooked, and it tasted rather bland if you ask me. all the other entrees were better though.

ambience: if you're looking for an authentic chinese experience, this probably isn't the place. it seem as though they hung a few lanterns and painted the decor red, and decided it would be a "cultural" enviroment. maybe it appeals to some people, but my friends and i thought this place tried too hard to pass off as authentic... but didn't. also, the open-style kitchen allow some smoke to travel into the dining zone, which can be disturbing.

service: our waitress was the only highlight throughout our meal. she was friendly and came to ask us how we were doing a few times. we dont blame her for reccommending the green beans...

overall, probably worth trying if you've never been there. but probably not worth returning.
