Great food!
Submitted Thursday, July 8, 2010 - 7:10am [Dine in]

A group of six of us dined at Adesso recently. The room hasn't changed much since the old Parkside/L'altro Buca days. This isn't a bad thing as it is a very comfortable room. The room is on the dark side but I prefer that to a restaurant being too bright.

We ordered several appetizers: Oysters, spaghetti carbonara, bruschetta & risotto. I sampled all the appies and they were very good. The spaghetti and risotto were my favorites.

For a main, I had the short rib. It came with a chickpea "frittelle." Think of it as a chick pea french fry. The short rib was absolutely delicious...extremely tender and flavorful. The chickpea fries were also great. I managed to grab a bite of someone's halibut and a bite of the cornish game hen. Both were very tasty.

The wine list is on the short side, but they have some great stuff that you likely won't find elsewhere.

Service was prompt. They brought one of our party the wrong entrée but they let us keep it (free of charge) to share while we were waiting for the proper entree to arrive...nice touch I thought!

Will I be back? Absolutely!

Needs Work!

My wife and I checked out Latitude last week. We went on a weeknight and there were a few tables taken. We were seated in one of their booths. There is a long banquette opposite the booths. The room looks very sophisticated but I found the design was lacking any character. I didn't get the feeling I was in a "hip" room and the music playing was not helping. I'm not sure what artist it was they were playing but it was a female vocalist and it was very boring, whiny pop music. They would be much better off playing some good alternative music or old hard bop jazz.

On to the food…For an appetizer we shared the scallops. They were the highlight of the evening. We were served 2 very large scallops with a housemade guacamole. The guacamole overpowered the delicate flavor of the scallop but it was still an excellent dish.
For dinner, I had the lamb shank and my wife had the paella. The lamb shank was tender but lacked flavor. It was served with a rather bland sauce and the sides were also bland. I only tried a bite of my wife's paella but she was not overwhelmed. Our meals were certainly not bad, just not great. We had a few glasses of red wine with dinner that were quite nice.

For dessert, we had the pannacotta. It was too light for a pannacotta and the texture was also not creamy enough to make it a good pannacotta.

Overall, I think Latitude needs to step it up a few notches in the kitchen if they are going to succeed. The dishes other than the scallop appetizer were lacking punch. The design could also use some work to flow a little more with the cool and relaxed Main St. vibe.

I hope things do improve as it is a stones throw from my place!

Great meal!

Had a great meal here on Saturday night. I started with a seared tuna salad and had a grilled AAA Striploin for a main. The food was fantastic. I was with three others and everyone thought the food was very solid. Service and ambience were all great. Not sure what is going on with the poor review before mine but I have been twice now and both times were great. Will definitely be back.

A truly painful dining experience

Where do I begin???? I arrived at the restaurant with my wife and my Mom around 6pm. The restaurant was getting quite busy. The guy at the front desk was completely clueless and not taking names. After a few minutes, a girl with a brain came along and took my name. We got a nice seat outside (great patio!) after about 10 minutes. Our waitress was very nice...no complaints about her. Our appetizer was an Italian plate that was quite good. Unfortunately, our mains came well over an hour later and were not good at all. There were many, many people complaining about the extreme slowness of the kitchen. I'm not sure who they have cooking back there, but WAKE UP! I know the place has only been open a couple of weeks, but our experience was brutal. Our mains were chicken and corn chowder (not bad actually), a seafood chowder (horrendous creamy barf with no seafood), and a spanish seafood dish that was disgusting. Everyone left hungry and really disappointed. I would stay far, far away from this new Burgoo location until they get their kitchen sorted out.
